Spirit Blossom Kindred

First time I saw Spirit Blossom Kindred load into my game I thought it was a completely different champion. Not gonna lie, something about the way Lamb moves in this skin just feels different. Lighter. The whole spirit aesthetic turns Kindred from this eerie death entity into something beautiful and honestly kind of peaceful. Been running this as my default Kindred skin since it dropped in August 2020 and I dont think anything has topped it since.

What Spirit Blossom actually changes on Kindred

The VFX overhaul here is serious for an Epic tier skin. Lamb’s Q dash leaves these soft petal trails that scatter across the ground, and the W zone shifts from that dark wolf territory into a glowing spirit circle with floating blossoms. Gorgeous stuff. Wolf transforms into this spectral fox-like creature and the way he lunges during passive marks feels way more fluid than base.

E is where it gets interesting. The slow stacks show as these ethereal flower marks on the target, and when the third proc hits and the damage pops off you get this satisfying burst of petals. Trapped their Jinx in bot lane last week with the full E proc and the visual payoff alone was worth the play. R is clean too. The invulnerability circle gets the full spirit treatment with cherry blossom particles floating upward.

Recall animation is one of my favorites in the game. Lamb plays a flute and Wolf curls around her in spirit form. Simple concept but beautifully executed. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is the one thing holding this skin back from being absolutely perfect. Kinda feels like Riot could have added even a voice filter to lean into the yokai fantasy harder. Still, for 1350 RP the particle work alone carries it.

The Spirit Blossom line and release context

Spirit Blossom dropped August 6, 2020 during what I think was one of Riot’s best skin events period. The whole Spirit Blossom skinline pulled from Japanese folklore and Ionian mythology, and Kindred fits that theme like a glove. Lamb and Wolf as twin spirits of death? Already halfway to a yokai story without trying.

Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash. The composition with Lamb in the foreground holding the bow while Wolf’s spirit form wraps the background is gorgeous. (Random aside: this splash has been my desktop wallpaper since season 10 and I still havent changed it.)

8 chromas total. Night Blossom is the standout for me, the dark body with icy blue accents reads so cleanly on the Rift during teamfights. Obsidian goes full shadow spirit which hits a completely different vibe than the pastel base. Rose Quartz leans pink and soft, good if you want the full ethereal mage fantasy. Could be wrong here but I think Night Blossom was the event-exclusive one back during the Spirit Blossom pass. Shop has it permanently now though so no stress on availability.

Is Spirit Blossom Kindred worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is the Kindred skin if you can only own one. Been maining Kindred with this equipped for maybe 150 games across Diamond and the skin just performs. The VFX clarity is actually better than base in some cases. Your W zone is easier to track in chaotic teamfights, your E procs read cleaner, and the Q dash trail helps you keep track of your own repositioning when things get hectic around dragon pit.

At 1350 RP this Epic skin punches above its weight. Played maybe 20 games with Porcelain Kindred after it came out and kept coming back to Spirit Blossom. The theme resonates harder with Kindred’s lore identity than any other skin in the lineup. Season 10 I think this was, or late season 10 at least, and it still holds up four years later. Worth 1350 if you main Kindred, and honestly worth it even if you just play them occasionally in jungle. The peel potential feels better when you look this good doing it. Spammed this in ranked last Tuesday around midnight and went 4-1. Might be the skin diff.
