First game I locked in EDG Graves, my duo asked me why I was playing with a corporate skin. Fair point visually, the black and white jacket does read more “business casual” than “shotgun-wielding outlaw.” But after maybe 15 games with it I changed my mind. The skin grows on you. Not sure if it’s just me but theres something about the clean EDG branding on the back that makes you feel like you’re actually performing on stage at Worlds.
How EDG Graves looks and feels in game
The model swaps Graves out of his usual rugged look into a fitted EDG team jacket. Black base with white and red accents. He’s got the championship trophy worked into his recall animation, which is the highlight for me. The recall has Graves lifting the Summoner’s Cup with that confident stance. Clean moment.
VFX got a proper refresh here. Q particles come out with this sharp red energy trail that reads well against the Rift. W smoke screen picks up the EDG color scheme too, dark with red edges. Been running this in Diamond for a couple seasons now and the auto attack particles feel slightly crisper than base, though that might be placebo. E dash leaves a subtle red afterimage. R collateral damage explosion hits with the EDG red burst that looks solid in teamfights when you’re dumping damage into the backline.
Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Kyle Hebert’s gravel voice still works fine with the esports aesthetic honestly. The skin doesn’t need new lines to sell the fantasy. Playing this skin, the red VFX on his buckshot Q feel satisfying when you proc it point blank on an engage support trying to dive you.
One thing I noticed around 2 AM last Thursday grinding ranked: the auto attack sound has a slightly different pitch compared to base Graves. Could be wrong here but it felt sharper. Small detail that most people wont catch but it registered after spamming jungle clears for hours.
The Worlds 2021 line and EDG’s run
EDG Graves dropped May 12, 2022. Part of the World Champions: 2021 skinline celebrating EDG’s championship win. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen handled the artwork, and the splash captures that post-victory energy well. Graves standing confident with the EDG colors popping against a dark background.
The World Champions skins always carry extra weight for me. These aren’t random thematic choices by Riot’s design team. Real players picked these champions. Knowing Jiejie picked Graves for his Worlds skin makes it hit different when you’re pathing through jungle. (Random aside: I watched that Worlds finals live at like 4 AM and the energy was insane even through a screen.)
Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it whenever. Hextech only these days unless Riot brings it back for a Worlds event rotation. There’s 1 chroma available, the Elite version. Dark navy base with deep red accents, basically the premium EDG colorway. Kinda feels like the Elite chroma should have been the default honestly, it reads more “championship” than the standard version.
Is EDG Graves worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: this is a solid Epic tier skin that earns its 1350 RP price tag. New VFX across all abilities, a strong recall animation with the trophy, and the EDG branding is tasteful. Not over the top.
For Graves mains specifically, this sits in the upper half of his skin catalog. Pool Party Graves has the fun factor, Sentinel Graves has the edge, but EDG Graves has that clean competitive energy. Been daily driving it this season in solo queue and it holds up. The red particles on Q and R read well in late-game teamfights when everything gets chaotic and you need to track your own damage output.
Skip it if you dont care about esports skins or the World Champions line. Fair warning, some people find the jacket model boring compared to his wilder skins like Crime City or Praetorian. But if you watched EDG win Worlds, if you remember that series, this skin carries meaning beyond just cosmetics. 1350 RP well spent for mains who appreciate the competitive history behind it. Season 11 was a wild year for pro play and this skin is a permanent reminder of that run.
