EDG Zoe

Played this skin the night it dropped and something about it just clicked. EDG Zoe carries the energy of a Worlds winner and you can feel it in every spell rotation. Not sure if it’s just me but the whole package feels sharper than base Zoe, like Riot actually gave this one the attention the 2021 champions deserved. Locked it in for maybe 40 ranked games that first week.

The VFX and recall on EDG Zoe

So the big thing here is the new VFX. Paddle Star (Q) trails this deep red and black energy that reads way cleaner in teamfights than I expected from an Epic tier skin. When you’re poking from range in the mid lane, the particle trail actually helps you track the star’s arc better. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox visual matches the actual hitbox more faithfully than base.

Sleepy Trouble Bubble (E) gets a nice rework visually. The bubble itself has EDG’s color scheme baked in, dark tones with red accents. Landing a max range E through a wall and watching that sleep proc with the new particles is satisfying. Clean stuff.

Portal Jump (R) keeps the playful Zoe vibe but wraps it in the Worlds aesthetic. The recall animation is where Riot went hardest though. Zoe celebrating with the EDG trophy, the confetti, the whole victory ceremony compressed into a few seconds. Been spamming the recall in Diamond lobbies just to flex it honestly.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO which is expected for a Worlds skin at 1350 RP. Erica Lindbeck’s original performance still holds up so thats not really a loss.

Worlds 2021 and the EDG legacy

Released May 12, 2022, right in the middle of season 12. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen handled the artwork and the splash captures the post-victory energy perfectly. Zoe mid-celebration, confetti everywhere, EDG’s black and red dominating the color palette.

The World Champions: 2021 skinline commemorates EDG’s run through Worlds. Remember watching that finals series against DWG around 3 AM on a Saturday, the reverse sweep had the whole community losing it. Having that moment immortalized in a Zoe skin hits different for anyone who was there live on stream. (Random aside: I still have the Worlds 2021 watch mission icon equipped on my account from that event.)

EDG Zoe sits in the Legacy vault now so you cant just grab it whenever. Hextech only these days unless Riot brings it back for a Worlds event rotation. Two chromas exist for this one. Elite goes with a darker palette, almost stealth mode for Zoe which feels weird but works. Tenfold Triumph shifts into red and gold, commemorating EDG’s ten year anniversary. Personally I run Elite more because the muted tones make the VFX pop harder against the Rift.

Is EDG Zoe worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a solid mid-tier Zoe skin. Not gonna compete with Star Guardian Zoe for the flashiest option in her catalog, but it fills a different niche. If you care about esports history or you were an EDG fan during that Worlds run, this skin carries weight beyond just the cosmetics.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, a strong recall animation, and a splash that actually tells a story. The two chromas add some variety even if the selection is limited compared to other Zoe skins.

Real talk though, the biggest issue is availability. Being Legacy means you might be waiting months for a chance to pick it up. Seen maybe 5 of these in my games all season which makes it feel rare in a good way. My Zoe one-trick friend in Diamond has been running Tenfold Triumph chroma since last September and gets compliments in lobby chat constantly.

Skip this if you need new voice lines or transforming effects. Grab it if you respect the EDG legacy and want something different from the usual sparkly Zoe aesthetic. The darker color scheme on a champion designed around bright playful energy creates an interesting contrast that I think works better than it should. For Zoe mains specifically, this rounds out the collection nicely even if it wont be your daily driver. Worth it for the history alone.
