Santa Braum

First game I played with Santa Braum was around 3 AM on a random Wednesday in December 2016. Locked it in for a ranked support game, and my ADC typed “HO HO HO” in chat before minions even spawned. Thats the energy this skin carries. Braum already has one of the most wholesome kits in the game, but slap a Santa outfit on him and suddenly every peel feels like a gift. Not gonna lie, I’ve had this in my rotation every winter since it dropped and it still makes me smile when the loading screen hits.

What the skin actually changes

Santa Braum swaps out his usual Freljord shield for a massive door-shaped present. Red and gold wrapping, big bow on front. The shield slam on his Q launches what looks like a chunk of ice shaped into a snowball, and the particle trail has this frosty sparkle that reads clean against the Rift. Winter Bite hits different when it looks like youre chucking holiday decorations at the enemy botlane.

His W, Stand Behind Me, keeps the same leap but the landing VFX got a festive touch. Subtle snowflake burst on arrival. Nothing crazy but it sells the theme. E is where the skin really shines though. Unbreakable puts up this massive present-door shield and the projectile absorption effect has snowflake particles popping off each blocked hit. Played a game last season against a Caitlyn who ulted into my E and the snowflakes just erupted. Beautiful.

The ult is the highlight. Glacial Fissure sends out a cracking ice path with holiday-themed frost particles. The knockup zone has this icy blue glow thats slightly different from base. Could be wrong here but I think the ground texture is a bit more polished than his default R. The whole thing feels appropriately epic for a 1350 RP skin.

Recall animation is where Riot had fun. Braum pulls out presents and starts stacking them, then strikes his classic mustache pose. Classic Braum energy. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but honestly his default voice is already so good that changing it would feel wrong. The “the heart is the strongest muscle” line hits just as hard in a Santa hat.

Snowdown Showdown and the release window

Santa Braum dropped December 14, 2016 as part of the Snowdown Showdown lineup. Xu ‘Crow God’ Cheng nailed the splash, capturing Braum mid-gift-delivery with that signature warm grin. The Snowdown Showdown skinline is one of Riot’s longest running seasonal themes and Braum fits it like a glove.

Being a Snowdown skin means this one sits in the Legacy vault. You cant just grab it whenever you want. It typically comes back during the winter event window, maybe November through January depending on the year. Rest of the time its hextech only if you get lucky with rerolls. (Random aside: I got my second copy from a reroll in like season 11 and was genuinely annoyed because I already owned it.)

No chromas on this one. Zero. Which I think is fine honestly. The red and white Santa palette is iconic enough that adding Obsidian or Pearl variants would just muddy the theme. Sometimes a skin doesnt need eight color options to justify itself.

Is Santa Braum worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you play Braum with any regularity and you enjoy seasonal skins, this is a must-own. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across the kit, a fun recall, and a thematic package that just works. The present-shield alone carries the concept.

Been maining Braum with this skin every December for years now. In my Diamond games specifically, I notice people tilt less when they see Santa Braum on their team. Might be overthinking it but I swear the wholesome factor gives a small mental edge. Your jungler comes for a gank, sees the Santa hat, and commits harder to the dive. Placebo or not, I’ll take it.

The competition in Braum’s skin lineup is real though. Pool Party Braum exists. Sugar Rush Braum exists. Braum Lionheart is solid. But none of them capture the character’s personality quite like Santa does. Braum IS the guy who would deliver presents across the Freljord. Skip it if you never play support, but for Braum mains this is top pick material. Legacy vault skin, so grab it when the Snowdown shop opens. Worth 1350 RP if you main Braum, full stop.
