Firecracker Teemo

First game I played with Firecracker Teemo was around 1 AM on a Tuesday, right after the Lunar Revel 2022 event dropped. Locked it in for a top lane blind pick. The loading screen splash alone had my duo saying “that’s actually clean.” Not what you expect from a Teemo skin, honestly. The whole festive vibe caught me off guard because I wasnt expecting Riot to give the little rat this much attention at 1350 RP.

What Firecracker Teemo actually brings to the table

So the big thing here is VFX. Every ability got the Lunar Revel treatment. His Q – Blinding Dart – launches what looks like a small firework projectile, red and gold trailing behind it. Solid hit. The shrooms from R are the real star though. They look like little firecrackers planted on the Rift, and when someone steps on one the explosion pops with sparks and confetti particles. Been running this skin in Diamond ranked for a while and I can confirm the shroom detonation VFX are satisfying every single time.

His W movement trail leaves a faint golden streak. Subtle but noticeable. The E poison ticks have a warm reddish glow instead of the standard green, which honestly makes it easier to track your DoT in chaotic teamfights. Not sure if it’s just me but the auto attack animation feels slightly different too. Smoother maybe. Could be placebo.

The recall animation is new and fits the Lunar Revel theme perfectly. Teemo sets off a little firework display, sits back, and watches it go off. Short, clean, no wasted frames. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the sound effects on abilities more than compensate. The shroom pop sound specifically has this crispy firecracker snap to it.

Model-wise Teemo’s wearing a traditional Lunar festival outfit. Red and gold dominate. The hat got redesigned into something resembling a festive cap with tassels. His blowgun has gold accents and red wrapping. Clean execution for an Epic skin.

The Firecracker line and release context

Firecracker Teemo dropped January 26, 2022. Late into season 12. Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash, the composition has Teemo mid-celebration with fireworks behind him, very dynamic energy.

The Lunar Revel: Firecracker skinline is one of Riot’s consistent annual themes. Teemo fits it naturally. The yordle aesthetic just works with festive designs. (Random aside: my friend who one-tricks Teemo support in Diamond has this splash as his Discord profile pic and refuses to change it.)

9 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to because the dark palette makes the red VFX pop harder against the model. Emerald does something interesting where the whole outfit shifts green and gold, reads almost like a different skin. Golden Tiger was the event-exclusive chroma and honestly might be the best one if you managed to grab it during the Lunar Revel pass. The rest are fine but those three stand out.

Legacy vault skin, so you cant just walk into the shop and buy it whenever. Hextech only these days, or you wait for Riot to rotate Legacy skins back during events. Kinda annoying but it does make it feel slightly more rare in your games. Seen maybe 4 or 5 of these in my ranked matches all of season 14.

Should you pick up Firecracker Teemo?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX package is strong, the model is clean, and the recall is fun without being overkill. Might be overthinking it but I think this sits comfortably in Teemo’s top three skins alongside Beemo and Little Devil.

For Teemo mains specifically this is an easy lock-in. The shroom VFX alone justify it. For everyone else, if you play Teemo even occasionally in ARAM or as a counterpick top lane, its worth rolling for in Hextech crafting. The chromas add longevity too, 9 options means you can rotate looks without getting bored.

Where it falls short: no new voice lines. At this price point thats standard for Epic skins so I cant really complain, but after playing something like Omega Squad Teemo with the full VO treatment, you notice the gap. The base Teemo voice lines feel a little out of place with the festive aesthetic. Minor gripe.

Straight talk: if you’re climbing ranked and you want your lane opponent to tilt when they see a Teemo lock-in, the Firecracker splash in loading screen sends a message. Worth 1350 RP if you main Teemo. Skip it if you already have Beemo and only play him once a month.
