Legendary

All Legendary Skins in League of Legends

Legendary skins hit different. Not gonna lie, the first time I locked in a Legendary and heard completely new voice lines in champ select, it felt like playing a different game. This is the tier where Riot stops just repainting your champion and starts rebuilding them from the ground up. New animations, new VO, new recall, new everything. 121 Legendary skins exist right now across 82 champions, and the gap between a good Legendary and a bad one is honestly wider than the gap between Epic and Standard. Some of these are S-tier purchases. Some are relics from 2011 that charge you 1820 RP for what amounts to a texture swap.

What You Actually Get at Legendary Tier

The pitch for Legendary is simple: new voice lines, new VFX, new model, new recall animation. Basically a champion makeover. And for the most part thats accurate. 109 out of 121 Legendaries ship with a completely new voiceover. Think about that for a second. Your champion literally says different things. Different taunts, different interactions with specific enemies, different kill lines. It changes the entire feel of playing ranked with that skin.

Been running Legendaries almost exclusively in Diamond for the past three seasons. The voice lines are what sell it. You load into a game with Spirit Blossom Thresh or God-King Darius and your champion has opinions about the enemy team. Specific callouts for specific matchups. That level of detail makes the Rift feel alive in a way that Epic skins just cant match.

VFX-wise, 113 of the 121 Legendaries get new particle effects. Every ability looks different. Q, W, E, R, auto attacks, sometimes even passive indicators. The recall animations are almost always unique too, with 107 out of 121 getting custom recalls. Could be wrong here but I think every Legendary released after like 2015 has all of these features. The older ones are where it gets sketchy.

Compared to Epic tier, the jump is massive. Epic gives you a new model and maybe some VFX tweaks. Legendary gives you a new champion identity. Compared to Ultimate, the difference is smaller than you'd expect. Ultimate skins have evolving forms or toggle options, but the base quality of a modern Legendary is honestly comparable. Some 2024 Legendaries outclass Ultimate skins from 2013. Not even close.

Model changes at Legendary are complete overhauls. New skeleton, new rig, new animations for walking, idle, attacking. Your champion moves differently. The auto attack animations alone can affect how smooth your cs feels. Had a ranked game last Wednesday where I switched from base Yone to a Legendary and my cs at 10 was noticeably better just because the auto animation felt cleaner. Placebo? Maybe. But the animation quality matters more than people think.

Best Legendary Skins Worth Your RP

Picking favorites here is tough because the quality variance across 121 skins is enormous. A Legendary from 2010 and a Legendary from 2025 are completely different products at the same price point. Real talk though, here are the ones I keep coming back to.

Blood Lord Vladimir. Classic for a reason. Released way back in 2012 and still holds up surprisingly well for its age. The voice is deeper, more menacing. Vladimir goes from goofy blood mage to actual threat. The ability VFX have this dark crimson weight to them that base Vlad completely lacks. Spammed this in Diamond during a Vlad phase last summer and never felt the need to swap off it. (Random aside: the splash art is genuinely one of the best in the game still, all these years later.)

Brolaf is a different vibe entirely. Comedy skin. Olaf shows up in flip flops and a tank top, chugging drinks. The voice lines are absurd. "Bromacia" type energy. Not sure if it's just me but this skin actually makes me play more aggressively because the whole aesthetic screams "run it down." Locked this in during a clash tournament once and my team couldnt stop laughing at the ult voice lines. Worth 1820 RP for the entertainment value alone.

Gatekeeper Galio is the sleeper pick nobody talks about. Massive demonic redesign. The model is imposing in a way that base Galio just isn't. VFX are heavy, dark, impactful. Every ability feels like it carries more weight. If you main Galio this is the skin. Period. Top pick for Galio mains who want their teamfight engage to look terrifying.

Annie in Wonderland deserves a mention for historical reasons. One of the earliest Legendaries at 1820 RP. Does it hold up to modern standards? Not really. The model changes are minimal compared to what you get from newer Legendaries. Tibbers looks different, Annie gets a Wonderland outfit, but there's no new VO, no new animations. Its basically an expensive Epic by today's standards. Collectors buy this for the rarity flex, not the quality.

The Magnificent Twisted Fate falls into the same camp. 1820 RP for what is essentially a model swap. No new voice lines. No new VFX worth mentioning. Released in 2010 when Legendary meant something completely different. Kinda feels like Riot should retroactively reprice these older ones but that ship sailed years ago.

The takeaway: modern Legendaries (2018 onwards) are almost universally worth buying if you play the champion. Pre-2015 Legendaries are a gamble. Check what features they actually include before spending.

Price and Value at 1820 RP

Most Legendaries sit at 1820 RP. That's roughly $14 USD depending on which RP bundle you buy. Steep? Yeah. But context matters.

An Epic skin runs 1350 RP. The jump to 1820 is only 470 RP more, but the feature gap is massive. New voice lines alone justify the price difference for mains. If you're a one-trick who plays 500 games a season on one champion, that extra $3-4 buys you hundreds of hours of different voice interactions. Hard to argue against that math.

Fair warning though: not every Legendary earns its price tag. The older ones I mentioned, Annie in Wonderland, The Magnificent Twisted Fate, those charge 1820 for what modern standards would call Epic-tier content. Riot has never adjusted their pricing downward and I doubt they ever will. So do your research before buying blind.

Sales happen. Legendaries rotate into the Your Shop personalized discounts and occasionally hit the regular sale rotation at 1350 RP. Might be overthinking it but I swear Your Shop gives me Legendary discounts more often during events. Got 30% off a Legendary in my shop around Worlds 2024 and pulled the trigger immediately. If you're patient, waiting for a sale is the play.

(Sidebar for budget players: the Hextech crafting route exists too. Legendary skin shards drop from chests and you can upgrade them for orange essence. Got Blood Lord Vladimir this way back in season 10 I think, saved the full 1820 RP.)

Compared to Ultimate at 3250 RP, Legendaries are the better value proposition almost every time. The price-to-content ratio peaks at Legendary tier. Ultimate gives you more, sure, but not 1430 RP more in most cases.

Who Should Buy Legendary Skins

One-tricks. Full stop. If you have a main champion and you play them 60%+ of your games, a Legendary is the single best cosmetic investment you can make in League. The new voice lines keep the champion fresh across hundreds of games. Been maining the same champ with the same Legendary for two seasons and the VO still hasnt gotten stale.

Champion mains who rotate between 3-5 picks should be selective. Buy Legendaries for your top 1-2 most played. For picks 3 through 5, Epic skins give you 80% of the experience at 75% of the price. Smart spending.

Collectors have their own math. 121 Legendaries at 1820 RP each is... a lot. Over 220,000 RP total. Not realistic for most people. Cherry-pick the ones with the best splash art for your collection page and skip the outdated ones unless you genuinely want completionist status.

Casual players who hop between 15+ champions per season? Skip Legendaries entirely. You won't play enough games on any single champion to justify 1820 RP. Stick with Epic tier and spread your budget wider. Maybe grab one Legendary for your absolute favorite champ during a sale event. Thats the move.

Ranked grinders specifically: some Legendaries have smoother auto attack animations that can genuinely affect your lane phase. Played maybe 200 games comparing animations last season around February and the difference is real on certain champions. Not saying it'll get you out of Gold, but every edge counts when you're climbing.

Frequently Asked Questions About Legendary Skins

How many Legendary skins are in LoL?

121 Legendary skins exist in League right now across 82 different champions. Riot keeps adding more each year. Think we got somewhere around 8-10 new Legendaries in 2025 alone, though dont quote me on the exact number. The count grows every major event patch.

How much do Legendary skins cost?

Standard price is 1820 RP for Legendary tier. That works out to roughly $14 USD depending on your RP bundle. Some older Legendaries technically sit at different price points in the data but Riot charges 1820 for all of them in the shop. Sales can drop them to around 1350 RP occasionally.

What features do Legendary skins have?

Modern Legendaries get new voiceover, new VFX on all abilities, new model and animations, plus a unique recall. 109 out of 121 have new voice lines. Older Legendaries from before 2015 might be missing some of these features though. Always check the skin spotlight before buying, learned that the hard way.

Are Legendary skins worth the price?

For mains and one-tricks? Absolutely worth it. The new voice lines alone change how the champion feels across hundreds of games. For casual players who rotate champions constantly, probably not. The value scales directly with how much you play that specific champion. Budget pick is waiting for a Your Shop discount.

What is the best Legendary skin?

Subjective obviously but Blood Lord Vladimir and Brolaf consistently top community lists. For pure quality, any Legendary released after 2020 is going to impress. God-King Darius, Spirit Blossom Thresh, High Noon Lucian are all bangers. My personal pick changes every few months honestly.

Do Legendary skins go on sale?

They do but not frequently. Legendaries can appear in Your Shop at personalized discounts up to 30-40% off. They also occasionally hit the regular sale rotation. Took this into ranked for weeks after grabbing one at 30% off during a Worlds event. Patience pays off if you're not in a rush.

What is the difference between Legendary and Ultimate skins?

Ultimate skins cost 3250 RP versus Legendary's 1820 RP. The main difference is evolving or transformable elements. Ultimates change form during the game or let you toggle between styles. Honestly though, some modern Legendaries rival Ultimate quality. The gap has narrowed a lot since 2020.

How do I get Legendary skins?

Three ways. Buy directly from the shop for 1820 RP. Wait for one to appear in Your Shop at a discount. Or get lucky with Hextech crafting and roll a Legendary skin shard from a chest, then upgrade it with orange essence. The crafting route is free but random so dont count on getting the specific one you want.
