Gentleman Cho'Gath - Splash, Price & Chromas

First time I saw Gentleman Cho’Gath in a loading screen I thought someone was trolling. A massive Void creature in a top hat and monocle, holding a pipe. Released May 11, 2010, this thing is one of the oldest Legendaries in the game and honestly it shows its age in some ways. But the voice lines carry it so hard that I dont even care about the dated model half the time.

What Gentleman Cho’Gath actually brings to the Rift

The whole concept is Cho’Gath pretending to be a refined British aristocrat while still being a terrifying Void monster that eats people. The contrast is the entire joke and it lands perfectly. New voice lines are the star here. Every single line is delivered with this posh, condescending tone that makes ulting someone with Feast feel like a formal dining experience. “Would you like some cheese with your wine?” right before you delete their ADC. Peak comedy.

Not gonna lie, the visual updates are minimal by modern Legendary standards. You get the top hat, monocle, pipe, and a suit jacket stretched over his carapace. The VFX got some love over the years but nothing close to what a 2024 Legendary would ship with. Q still looks decent enough. W rupture has a slightly refined particle. E and R are functional but basic. Could be wrong here but I think the recall animation was added later during one of the touch-up passes, because it feels slightly more polished than the rest.

Played maybe 200 games with this skin across multiple seasons. The thing that keeps me coming back is the audio. Every ability cast, every kill, every emote has that gentleman persona baked in. The way he apologizes after devouring someone with R is genuinely funny even after hundreds of games. Most humor skins get old fast. This one somehow doesnt.

Model quality is where you feel the 2010 release date. Textures are flat compared to anything post-2018. The suit looks painted on rather than modeled. When you stack Feast and get massive, the proportions get weird in a way that newer skins handle better. Season 9 I think or 10 I started noticing it more as the visual bar kept rising around him. But here’s the thing: the skin reads clearly on the Rift. Top hat silhouette is instantly recognizable even in a chaotic teamfight. That matters more than texture resolution when you’re trying to track Cho’Gath diving your backline.

The High Society line and where this skin sits

Gentleman Cho’Gath belongs to the High Society skinline. Kinda feels like Riot tested the “fancy monster” concept here and it worked well enough that we got Gentleman Gnar years later. The High Society theme is simple: take something inherently violent or monstrous and dress it up. Cho’Gath was the perfect candidate.

No splash artist credited in the data, which tracks for a 2010 skin. Back then Riot’s art pipeline was completely different. The splash itself is iconic though. Cho’Gath sitting in a leather chair, wine glass in hand, bookshelf behind him. It reads like a portrait in some haunted manor. (Random aside: I used this splash as my Discord avatar for like two years straight and people always asked about it.)

No chromas available for this one. Zero. For 1820 RP thats a bit rough in 2026, but the skin predates the entire chroma system by half a decade so it is what it is. Shop has it permanently, you can grab it any time. Not locked behind any vault or event. Permanent shop availability.

Is 1820 RP justified in the current era?

Real verdict: this is the hardest Legendary to evaluate in the entire game. By modern standards, 1820 RP gets you a complete overhaul. New model, new VFX on every ability, new animations, new voice with dozens of interactions, unique recall, sometimes even a form change. Gentleman Cho’Gath has the voice and the concept but the visual execution is 16 years old now.

Last Tuesday around 2 AM I was in a ranked game on Cho’Gath top against a Darius. Locked in Gentleman specifically because the voice lines tilt people in lane. Every time I landed a Q and followed with the polite quip, my jungler was laughing in comms. That psychological edge is real. Been running this in Diamond for years and the entertainment value per game is higher than skins costing twice as much.

Real talk though, if you’re buying this purely for visual quality you will be disappointed. The model looks ancient next to Battlecast Prime or even Shan Hai Scrolls Cho’Gath. But if you main Cho’Gath and you value personality over polish, this is arguably the best Cho’Gath skin full stop. The voice lines are that good. No other Cho’Gath skin gives you a completely different character fantasy.

Worth 1820 if you main Cho’Gath and appreciate the humor. If you’re a casual Cho’Gath player who picks him once every 30 games, maybe wait for a sale or check the Your Shop rotation. The skin does go on discount occasionally. For one-tricks and Cho’Gath mains who want to tilt the enemy laner while stacking Feast in top lane, this is the pick. Simple change – huge impact on how every game feels. S-tier Cho’Gath cosmetic purely on voice work and concept alone, even if the pixels are showing their age.
