Tango Evelynn

First time I saw Tango Evelynn in a loading screen I thought someone was trolling. Not gonna lie, the concept of Evelynn in a ballroom dress sounded ridiculous before I actually looked at it. But theres something about the execution that just works. She’s an assassin who seduces and kills. A tango fits that energy better than half the edgy skins in the game.

What Tango Evelynn actually changes

For a 520 RP skin from 2010, you get more than you’d expect. The model swap puts Evelynn in a red and black tango dress with heels that somehow look threatening. Hair pulled back tight. The silhouette reads completely different from base Evelynn in lane, which I appreciate when I’m trying to track her post-6 in my Diamond games.

New VFX on this one. Subtle stuff, nothing crazy, but the particle colors shift to match the red theme. Her Q poke feels visually cleaner against the Rift’s green, and the E proc has a warmer tone. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for this price point and era. No new recall animation either, she just does the default.

Real talk though, the model holds up surprisingly well after the Evelynn rework. Riot updated the skin when they rebuilt her kit and it translated better than some of the other legacy Evelynn skins. The dress flows with her movement animations. Played maybe 30 games with this skin last season and the auto attack animations feel smooth. Could be wrong here but I think the Q targeting particles are slightly easier to read than Shadow Evelynn’s.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I lock in this skin because he says it looks like Evelynn is going to prom. He’s wrong but I respect the commitment to his bad take.)

The High Society line and release context

Tango Evelynn released October 5, 2010. Season 1 era. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen handled the artwork, and the splash captures the skin’s vibe perfectly. Dark background, dramatic pose, red dress popping against shadow. Classic Riot splash composition from that period.

Part of the High Society skinline, which also includes Tango Twisted Fate. The two were meant as a pair. Back around season 3 or 4 I used to see people duo queue with both skins in bot lane. Tango TF support with Tango Evelynn jungle. Terrible comp but the aesthetic commitment was real.

520 RP puts this firmly in Standard territory. Shop has it, permanent availability. No chromas exist for this skin, which honestly feels like a missed opportunity. A gold chroma would have been clean. But Riot rarely goes back to update chromas on skins this old, so dont hold your breath.

Should you pick up Tango Evelynn?

Straight talk: for 520 RP this is solid. You’re not getting Legendary production value obviously. No new voice lines, no custom recall, no transforming mechanics. But the model swap is distinctive, the VFX adjustments exist, and the thematic concept actually fits Evelynn’s character better than some of her more expensive options.

If you main Evelynn and you’re building a collection, this is a must-own just for the price. I keep coming back to this one when I want something different from the K/DA or Coven skins. Been running this in ranked last Tuesday specifically because I was tired of the same three Evelynn skins every game. Spammed it for like 8 games straight.

Skip it if you only want one Evelynn skin and you have budget for something higher tier. Coven Evelynn exists. But if you’re looking at the 520 RP bracket? Best Evelynn skin at this price, full stop. The tango fantasy just hits different on an assassin who ganks from stealth and deletes the backline before anyone reacts. 520 RP well spent for mains.
