Prestige K/DA Evelynn (2022)

First time I saw this skin drop in champ select, I thought someone was flexing a time machine. The 2022 Prestige re-release of K/DA Evelynn hit different from the original Prestige version, and not gonna lie, it took me a few games to figure out exactly why. Something about the gold tones felt warmer. Richer. Like Riot went back and said “we can do better” and then actually did.

What Prestige K/DA Evelynn actually changes

Evelynn’s passive camouflage already makes her one of the most satisfying champions to pilot in solo queue, and this Mythic skin leans into that fantasy hard. The VFX overhaul gives her abilities a white-gold shimmer that reads clean against the Rift. Her Q spikes have this pearlescent trail that I keep noticing mid-combo even after hundreds of games. Gorgeous stuff.

The W charm buildup glows with that signature Prestige gold. Not over the top, not subtle either. Right in that sweet spot where you notice it every time but it doesnt distract from gameplay. Her E whip lash gets the gold treatment too, and the empowered version leaves a brief sparkle on impact. Small detail. Matters more than you’d think when you’re diving the backline at 2 AM on a Tuesday.

Ult is where it pops off. Evelynn’s R already has one of the most satisfying animations in the game, and Prestige K/DA Evelynn wraps the whole execute in golden particles that scatter outward on hit. Been running this in Diamond since patch 12.6 and the execute VFX still hasn’t gotten old. The recall animation keeps the K/DA performance energy with the Prestige color shift. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but honestly Mara Junot’s original performance carries enough weight that it doesn’t feel like a miss.

Kinda feels like the skin exists in this weird space where it’s clearly better than the 2018 original Prestige but Riot never really advertised the differences. The model textures are sharper. The gold is less “spray painted” and more “woven into the fabric.” Could be wrong here but I think they updated the hair physics too. Side by side the 2022 version moves more naturally.

The K/DA line and how this Prestige fits

K/DA is probably Riot’s most commercially successful skinline. Period. Evelynn was part of the original 2018 lineup alongside Ahri, Kai’Sa, and Akali, and she’s arguably the one who benefited most from the concept. The diva assassin fantasy just works for her kit.

Pan Chengwei handled the artwork for this 2022 version and they cooked. The splash captures Evelynn mid-pose with that confident energy the K/DA brand runs on. Gold accents across the outfit, the lashers framing her silhouette. Clean composition.

Released April 1, 2022. No joke despite the date. This was part of the Mythic Essence rotation when Riot reworked the old Prestige system. Special pricing through the Mythic shop rather than a standard RP cost. Right now it sits in the vault, so you’re looking at waiting for a rotation or getting lucky with Hextech crafting. (Random aside: I set the splash as my Discord avatar for like three months and got more comments on that than any actual gameplay clip I’ve posted.)

No chromas on this one, which makes sense for a Prestige skin. The whole point is the exclusive colorway. K/DA Evelynn already has the base purple version and the All Out variant if you want variety. This Prestige is the crown jewel of the set.

How Prestige K/DA Evelynn compares to her other skins

Evelynn mains are spoiled for choice at this point. Coven Evelynn exists. Sugar Rush exists. The original K/DA and K/DA All Out both compete for the “best Evelynn skin” title depending on who you ask. Maybe just my experience but I think this 2022 Prestige edges out most of them purely on VFX clarity. In teamfights where everything is chaos, the gold particles read better than Coven’s darker palette.

That said, if you’re an Evelynn one-trick who already owns the 2018 Prestige, the differences are subtle enough that you might feel some buyer’s remorse. Not a ton of new content between the two versions. The texture upgrade is real but it’s not a different skin, its a refinement. Season 12 I think, maybe early 13, I played both back to back for about 30 games each trying to decide which one to keep in rotation. Landed on the 2022.

Real talk though, the biggest flex with this skin is rarity. Vault rotation means most Evelynn players in your ranked games won’t have it. Been spamming this in Diamond and I see maybe one other person with it every couple weeks. That exclusivity factor matters to collectors.

Should you chase Prestige K/DA Evelynn (2022)?

Verdict time. This is a Mythic tier skin with Special pricing through the rotating shop. You can’t just buy it whenever you want. That changes the calculus. If you main Evelynn and the vault rotation lines up, grab it. The VFX upgrade over base K/DA Prestige is worth the Mythic Essence. S-tier Evelynn cosmetic.

If you’re not an Evelynn main, honestly skip it. Coven or K/DA All Out will serve you fine at a lower barrier to entry. But for the one-tricks who live in her jungle and want the cleanest gold VFX Riot has put on an assassin? Keep coming back to this. Fair warning, once it rotates out you’re waiting months for another shot. Pre-6 ganks hit different when you look this good doing them.
