Soul Fighter Evelynn

First game I played with Soul Fighter Evelynn was around 2 AM on release night, and the skin immediately felt different from every other Evelynn cosmetic I’d used before. The whole anime fighting game aesthetic Riot pushed with the Soul Fighter line works surprisingly well on a champion who already has that predatory elegance baked into her kit. Not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting to like it this much when the previews dropped.

How Soul Fighter changes Evelynn’s look

The model redesign leans hard into the tournament fighter fantasy. Evelynn gets this sleek combat outfit with exposed midriff and flowing hair that actually moves well during her passive stealth. The lashers look more like energy whips than demonic appendages, which is a cool departure from her usual succubus vibe.

VFX is where this skin earns its 1350 RP. Her Q hate spikes come out with these bright energy trails that read cleanly in teamfights. Not a small thing when you’re trying to burst the backline and need to confirm your Q landed on the right target. The W charm indicator has new particles too, and her E whiplash gets a satisfying flash on proc. Played maybe 40 games with this skin in Diamond last season and the ability readability never caused issues.

Recall animation is solid. Soul Fighter Evelynn does this fighting game victory pose thing. Fits the skinline. Voice lines stay base though, no new VO, which is standard for an Epic tier skin. Could be wrong here but I think new voice lines would have pushed this into must-buy territory for every Evelynn main out there.

The Soul Fighter line and release details

Soul Fighter dropped August 3, 2023. Mid-season 13. Marie Magny and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured something really specific with the splash. Evelynn looks like she belongs in a Guilty Gear select screen.

The Soul Fighter skinline was one of Riot’s bigger 2023 events. Samira, Jhin, Sett, Gwen, Lux, Viego all got skins in the same set. Evelynn fits the roster naturally. The whole line revolves around this interdimensional fighting tournament concept, and Evelynn’s predator kit translates well into a fighter archetype. (Random aside: the Soul Fighter event game mode was actually fun for once, spent way too many hours on it.)

9 chromas total. Obsidian is my pick for ranked because the dark palette blends into the Rift better when you’re setting up flanks from jungle. Sapphire hits a clean blue-purple that feels premium. Limitless has this silver-to-purple gradient thats unique among the set. Ruby and Emerald exist but feel generic compared to those three. I wouldn’t bother collecting all nine unless you’re a completionist.

Worth the 1350 RP?

Real verdict: Soul Fighter Evelynn sits in the upper half of her skin catalog. Not quite K/DA levels of iconic, but better than most of her older options. The VFX refresh on Q and E alone makes ganking feel smoother. Been running this as my main Evelynn skin since about halfway through season 13, rotating with Coven occasionally when I want something darker.

For 1350 RP you get new model, new VFX across all abilities, new recall, and access to nine chromas if you want variety. Shop has it, permanent availability. Kinda feels like the sweet spot for what an Epic skin should deliver. Compared to something like Blood Moon Evelynn which costs the same but has less particle work, Soul Fighter wins easily.

If you play Evelynn in ranked at all, this is worth picking up. Especially if you grabbed any other Soul Fighter skins during the event and want the collection to feel complete. The one knock is no voice filter or new lines, but at this price point that’s expected. Skip it only if you already have Coven or K/DA All Out and feel satisfied. For everyone else who plays Evelynn even semi-regularly in solo queue, 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Two patches after buying it I knew this one was staying in the rotation permanently.
