First game I played with Soul Fighter Lux was around 2 AM on a Tuesday, patch 13.14 had just dropped. Locked her in for a mid lane ranked game and immediately noticed the splash loading screen hit different. The whole fighting game aesthetic caught me off guard honestly. Been a Lux player on and off since season 5, and this skin gave me a reason to put her back in the rotation after months of ignoring her for other mids.
What Soul Fighter Lux actually brings to the table
The VFX overhaul is the main sell here. Her Q snare has this energy burst effect that reads cleaner than most of her other Epic skins. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox visual actually matches the actual hitbox better than base, which is rare for Lux. The E zone pops with this bright arena-style glow, almost like a fighting game special move indicator on the ground. Fits the Soul Fighter theme perfectly.
Her ult is where Riot put the work in. Big beam, flashy particles, the whole package. Sniped a Katarina from mid to bot lane last week and the kill felt extra satisfying with those VFX. The recall animation leans hard into the tournament fighter fantasy, Lux doing this victory pose like she just won a round in a versus game. No new voice lines though. Voice stays default, which is fine because Carrie Keranen’s base VO still holds up.
Not gonna lie, the model itself is solid for 1350 RP. The outfit redesign goes full martial arts tournament with the bandages and the exposed midriff look. Hair flows well in-game. One thing that bugs me is the auto attack particles feel slightly slower visually even though they arent. Might just be a perception thing from the color palette shift but it threw off my cs rhythm for like 3 games before I adjusted.
The Soul Fighter line and release context
Soul Fighter dropped July 20, 2023. Mid season 13. The whole skinline was Riot’s fighting game event, and Lux fit naturally into the roster as the projectile zoner archetype. Think Ryu throwing hadoukens. Roanna Peroz and Kudos Productions handled the splash, and they captured the energy of the theme without overdesigning it.
The Soul Fighter lineup included some heavy hitters that patch. Jhin, Sett, Gwen, Pyke, Viego all got skins in the same set. Lux doesn’t stand out as the best of the bunch (that’s probably Sett or Jhin) but she holds her own. The skinline has this competitive arena vibe that works well in teamfights when multiple Soul Fighter skins show up. Played a game where our comp had three Soul Fighter skins and the VFX synergy in lane and in fights around dragon pit looked clean.
9 chromas total for this one. Obsidian is my go-to, the dark color scheme makes the bright VFX pop harder against the contrast. Amethyst runs a close second if you want that mage purple aesthetic. Limitless is the event-exclusive one with the silver and purple mix, worth grabbing if you can still find it. (Random aside: the Citrine chroma is basically Goku colors and I respect that reference.) Rest of them are solid but nothing I’d specifically chase.
Is Soul Fighter Lux worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: this sits comfortably in the upper half of Lux’s skin catalog. She has like 15+ skins at this point so competition is stiff. Star Guardian and Elementalist still exist. But for a straight 1350 RP Epic with new VFX and a unique thematic, Soul Fighter Lux earns its price tag. Shop has it permanently.
If you main Lux mid specifically, this skin feels great for poke and engage patterns. The E and Q particles read well for you and your opponents, which matters in Diamond where people actually dodge skillshots. Been running this in ranked for maybe 40 games now and I keep coming back to it over Space Groove. Kinda feels like it’s the best Epic-tier Lux skin for competitive play specifically because the visuals are clear without being distracting. Skip it if you already own Elementalist or Porcelain Prestige, but for everyone else spamming Lux in solo queue, 1350 RP well spent for mains.
