Jurassic Cho'Gath - Splash, Price & In-Game Look

Played maybe 200 games with this skin back in season 11 and 12, and honestly it still holds up better than you’d expect for something from 2011. Jurassic Cho’Gath turns the Void terror into a straight-up dinosaur. Bony plating, fossil textures, the whole prehistoric package. Not gonna lie, the first time I locked in this skin in a ranked lobby, my jungler typed “nice dino” and that was enough for me.

What Jurassic Cho’Gath actually changes

The model rework here is solid for a 975 RP Standard tier skin. Cho’Gath gets a full skeletal dinosaur look with exposed bone ridges along his back and a skull-shaped head that reads cleanly even at max Feast stacks. The color palette shifts to earthy browns and tans with some mossy green undertones. Feels like something out of a natural history museum.

VFX got touched up too, which is rare for this price range. Rupture has this dusty, fossil-dig vibe when it pops. Kinda feels like the ground itself is cracking open to reveal ancient bones. His Q in teamfights actually looks distinct from base, which matters when you’re trying to land it on the backline during a messy dragon fight. Feral Scream and Vorpal Spikes keep the earthy tone consistent. Nothing flashy, just cohesive.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO, which is expected at this tier. The base Cho’Gath voice works fine here though – that deep rumble fits a dinosaur just as well as it fits a Void creature. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations feel slightly different too, heavier somehow. Might just be placebo from the model being chunkier.

The Day Job line and where Jurassic fits

Jurassic Cho’Gath dropped November 1, 2011. Season one era. The skin is part of Riot’s Day Job skinline, which is one of those weird early thematic groups where champions get reimagined into mundane or comedic roles. Cho’Gath as a museum exhibit dinosaur. Sure. It works better than it should.

(Random aside: I used to run this skin exclusively during late night ranked sessions around 1 AM because the muted color scheme wasnt as harsh on my eyes as Battlecast Prime. Small thing but it mattered during those season 9 grind sessions.)

975 RP puts it in Standard territory. Shop has it, permanent availability. For comparison, Battlecast Prime runs 1820 RP and Dark Star is 1350 RP. Jurassic sits at the budget end but honestly delivers more personality per RP than some of the pricier options. No recall animation refresh, which is the one thing I wish they’d added.

Should you buy Jurassic Cho’Gath?

Real verdict: if you main Cho’Gath and want something different from the edgy Void aesthetic without dropping Legendary money, this is your pick. Been running this in Diamond when I want a chill vibe in lane. The VFX updates push it above what most 975 RP skins offer these days.

There’s 6 Cho’Gath skins competing for your attention. Gentleman is the meme classic, Battlecast Prime is the tryhard choice, Dark Star is the flashy one. Jurassic Cho’Gath fills a different niche – understated, clean, prehistoric. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. Not the best Cho’Gath skin full stop, but it earned a permanent spot in my rotation last Tuesday after I pulled off a five-stack Feast ult on their Katarina under tower. The dino chomp just hits different.

Skip it if you already own Battlecast Prime and dont care about variety. But for Cho’Gath one-tricks who want to mix things up in solo queue without spending big? Solid pickup.
