Boom Boom Blitzcrank

First time I saw Boom Boom Blitzcrank loading in, I thought someone on my team was trolling. Big red boxing gloves on a steam golem. Thats the whole pitch. Played against one in a Diamond 3 game last Tuesday and honestly it hits different when you see those oversized mitts flying at you from fog of war. The hook animation with boxing gloves just looks funnier, and funny skins tilt opponents harder than any tryhard cosmetic.

What Boom Boom Blitzcrank actually changes

Real talk though, this is a 520 RP skin from 2010. You get a model swap and nothing else. No new VFX on Q, no special particles when your E uppercut lands, no recall animation. Voice lines stay base. The boxing glove theme does all the heavy lifting here, and by heavy lifting I mean Blitzcrank literally looks like he walked out of a gym.

The red boxing gloves are oversized compared to his default hands. Makes the Rocket Grab read slightly different in lane, not in a gameplay-advantage way but just visually. Kinda feels like the hitbox looks wider even though it isnt. Been running this in ARAM when I get Blitzcrank and the Q still catches people off guard. The E knockup with a boxing glove feels more satisfying than the default fist, even without new particles.

Rest of the model keeps the base Blitzcrank silhouette. Gold and red color scheme instead of the default yellow. No changes to W speed boost visuals, no R lightning tweaks. Standard voice, no new lines. For a skin this old you’re basically paying for the concept and the gloves. Simple change – huge impact on the vibe.

The Day Job line and some history

Boom Boom Blitzcrank dropped August 29, 2010. Season 1 era. Most people reading this probably werent even playing League yet. Part of the Day Job skinline, which is one of Riot’s older thematic ideas where champions have regular jobs. Blitzcrank as a boxer fits perfectly because his whole kit is about punching and grabbing.

No splash artist credited in the data for this one, which tracks for skins from that era. Riot wasnt exactly documenting their art pipeline back then. (Random aside: the old splash for this skin used to look even more ridiculous before they updated champion art across the board.)

No chromas available for Boom Boom Blitzcrank. Zero. Not surprising given the price point and age. Shop has it for 520 RP, permanent availability, so you can grab it whenever. Could be wrong here but I think this might be one of the cheapest Blitzcrank skins that still looks distinct from base.

Should you buy Boom Boom Blitzcrank?

Played maybe 40 games with this skin across ranked and ARAM since season 9 I think. Not gonna lie, it’s a meme pick. You lock in Boom Boom Blitzcrank when you want your ADC to laugh in champ select, not when you’re sweating for LP. But for 520 RP you literally cannot complain about value.

Blitzcrank has way better skins now. Battle Boss, Space Groove, Lancer Paragon, all of them blow this out of the water in terms of VFX and model quality. But none of them have the comedy factor. Hooked their Jinx into our tower last week in a Diamond game and my duo said “the boxing glove makes it funnier” and honestly he’s right.

Skip this if you want a serious Blitzcrank skin for climbing. 520 RP feels fair for what you get. But if you’re a Blitzcrank main who wants every skin in the collection, or you just want to peel for your backline while looking like a robot Rocky, Boom Boom earns its spot. It’s the cheapest laugh you’ll get on the Rift. Not the best Blitzcrank skin by any stretch, but maybe the funniest one in your inventory for those late night ranked sessions around 2 AM when nothing matters anymore.
