Blitzcrank Skins

16 skins available

Blitzcrank has one of those skin catalogs that sneaks up on you. Sixteen skins deep and I dont think most people could name more than five off the top of their head. Been playing this robot since season 3, maining support on and off through Diamond, and honestly the range here goes from "why does this exist" to "this might be the best support skin in the game." Not gonna lie, the hook champion deserves better recognition for some of these cosmetics.

Blitzcrank's Skin Collection Over the Years

Sixteen skins spanning from 2009 all the way to 2023. That's fourteen years of Riot figuring out what to do with a steam golem who grabs people. The early stuff is rough. Rusty Blitzcrank dropped in 2009 and it shows - basically a recolor that Riot themselves pulled from the shop. Goalkeeper Blitzcrank came around the same era, soccer themed, does its job for World Cup vibes and nothing else.

The tier breakdown tells an interesting story here. Six Standard skins, nine Epics, and one Legendary. Feels like Riot kept Blitzcrank in the "reliable Epic seller" category for most of his life. Could be wrong here but I think that's because hook champions have a built-in audience that'll buy anything with new Q particles. Smart business.

Boom Boom Blitzcrank is one of those skins that existed before Riot had standards. Boxing gloves on a robot. Fine. Then you jump forward to Piltover Customs around 2013 and suddenly there's actual effort going into the model. Hot rod Blitzcrank with flame decals. The quality gap between early Blitzcrank skins and the 2013+ era is massive.

(Random aside: I still see Boom Boom Blitzcrank in my ranked games more than some of the Epics. Diamond players are weird about their legacy skins.)

The real glow-up happened when Riot started giving him themed event skins. Battle Boss in the Arcade line. Lancer Rogue and Lancer Paragon as a duo. Witch's Brew for Halloween. Each one pushed the visual identity further from "Zaun robot" and into genuinely creative territory. By the time Space Groove dropped in 2021 with a full Legendary treatment, Blitzcrank had quietly built one of the more diverse skin rosters for a support champion. Beezcrank in 2023 is the latest addition. Bee skin. It works better than it should.

Best Blitzcrank Skins to Lock In

Space Groove Blitz & Crank. Full stop. This Legendary at 1820 RP is the definitive Blitzcrank experience and I will argue this in any thread. The dual personality gimmick where you switch between Blitz and Crank changes the entire feel of the champion. New voice lines, new animations, the Q hook has this groovy particle trail that makes landing grabs feel twice as satisfying. Been spamming this in Diamond since it dropped and the recall animation alone is worth the price.

The W speed boost gets disco floor particles underneath. E knockup has this funky bass hit sound effect. Ult is a full light show. Legendary price, earns it. Not sure if it's just me but landing hooks with Space Groove feels smoother than base, something about the visual clarity of the hand extending.

Piltover Customs sits at 1350 RP and honestly punches way above that weight class. Hot rod themed Blitzcrank with chrome plating and flame effects. The Q is a grappling hook that looks meaner than base. Released back in the earlier seasons but the visual update it got keeps it competitive. Had this in rotation for maybe two years before Space Groove came out.

iBlitzcrank is the sleeper pick. Apple product themed robot at 1350 RP. Clean white design, minimalist particles. The hook is this blue holographic beam thing. Kinda feels like Riot made this as a joke but it ended up being one of the cleanest looking skins in the game. Perfect for the "I don't need flashy effects" crowd.

Battle Boss Blitzcrank from the Arcade line goes hard on the retro gaming aesthetic. Pixel effects on abilities, 8-bit sound design on the hook. At 1350 RP it's solid. The Q specifically has this pixelated grab that reads well in teamfights. Took this into ranked for about 30 games last season and the E knockup with the arcade sound effect never got old.

Lancer Rogue Blitzcrank rounds out my top five. Dark themed, angular armor design, the hook has a lance-style visual that changes the silhouette completely. 1350 RP. The Lancer Paragon version exists too - same skin, lighter color scheme. Rogue looks better in my opinion. The dark metal against the Rift just pops more, especially in river fights around dragon.

Skinlines and Where Blitzcrank Fits

Blitzcrank shows up in a bunch of skinlines but doesnt really anchor any of them. He's in the Arcade universe through Battle Boss. Part of the Lancer series with both Rogue and Paragon variants. Piltover Customs is technically its own thing. Definitely Not Blitzcrank is the disguise meme line. Space Groove is the big one where he actually feels like a main character in the skinline.

Real talk though, the thematic fit varies wildly. Space Groove was made for Blitzcrank. The disco robot fantasy with the split personality concept is perfect for a champion whose entire kit revolves around one ability. Gives him depth he doesn't have in base. The Arcade Battle Boss line also works because Blitzcrank already looks like he belongs in a video game.

Definitely Not Blitzcrank is the comedy pick. Robot wearing a trenchcoat pretending to be human. Released ages ago and it's still one of the most recognizable joke skins in League. Not much changes gameplay-wise but the concept carries hard. Seen maybe four of these in my games this split and every time someone in chat types something about it.

(Sidebar for support mains: Witch's Brew Blitzcrank during Halloween is underrated. The cauldron theme on the hook looks genuinely creepy and the green particle effects have great contrast on Summoner's Rift. Most people skip it because it's seasonal but it holds up.)

The weaker fits are the early utility skins. Goalkeeper feels disconnected from everything. Riot Blitzcrank is a promotional skin that looks like base Blitzcrank in a different outfit. These exist for collection completionists, not for people who actually want a different experience in lane.

Budget Picks vs Going Premium

The price range runs from 520 RP on the low end to 1820 RP for Space Groove. Big gap. If you're climbing ranked and want a Blitzcrank skin without dropping serious RP, Definitely Not Blitzcrank at the Standard tier is the move. Minimal visual changes but maximum personality. The comedy factor alone makes laning more fun.

In the Epic range at 1350, Piltover Customs is the best value. Model changes are significant, particles feel premium, and it's been around long enough that Riot updated it to modern standards. iBlitzcrank is the runner up for clean aesthetics. Battle Boss if you want maximum visual flair without going Legendary.

Space Groove at 1820 RP is worth it if you main Blitzcrank. Full commitment. New VO, new animations, the dual personality mechanic, everything changes. But if you play him once every ten games in autofill? Might be overthinking it but 1350 on Piltover Customs gets you 80% of the experience for 70% of the price. The Legendary tax is real and only makes sense for one-tricks.

Victorious Blitzcrank is free if you hit Gold+ in the right season. Can't buy it. Zenith Games is another limited skin. These aren't really part of the buying decision but worth mentioning because if you have them, thats already two skins you didn't pay for.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Blitzcrank have?

Sixteen skins total as of 2023. Range goes from the original Rusty Blitzcrank in 2009 to Beezcrank. Solid collection for a support champion. Six Standard tier, nine Epics, one Legendary. Most hook support players have plenty to choose from here, been through most of them myself over the seasons.

What is the best Blitzcrank skin?

Space Groove Blitz & Crank. Not even close in my opinion. Legendary tier with new VO, dual personality mechanic, completely reworked animations and particles. The hook feels different, the recall is top tier. Played hundreds of games with this and it never gets stale. 1820 RP well spent for mains.

What is the cheapest Blitzcrank skin?

The Standard tier skins start at 520 RP. Boom Boom Blitzcrank and Goalkeeper Blitzcrank are the cheapest options. Not gonna lie, Definitely Not Blitzcrank is probably the best budget pick though. Minimal price, maximum personality. The comedy value alone carries it in lane.

Does Blitzcrank have a Legendary skin?

One Legendary. Space Groove Blitz & Crank at 1820 RP. Full package deal with new voice lines, unique dual character mechanic, reworked ability VFX and a killer recall animation. Dropped during the Space Groove event and it immediately became the go-to skin for every Blitzcrank player I know in ranked.

What skinlines is Blitzcrank in?

A bunch. Space Groove, Arcade Battle Bosses, Lancer series with both Rogue and Paragon, Piltover Customs, Definitely Not, and the Soccer Cup line through Goalkeeper. He pops up in seasonal stuff too like Witch's Brew. Kinda feels like Riot slots him into whatever theme needs a robot, which honestly works.

Does Blitzcrank have chromas?

Several of his Epic skins have chroma options. Battle Boss, Lancer Rogue, Lancer Paragon, and some of the newer releases come with chroma packs. Space Groove has chromas too if you want to switch up the disco color scheme. Worth checking the store for specific color options on whichever skin you grab.

When was Blitzcrank's last skin released?

Beezcrank in 2023. Bee themed skin, part of the Bee skinline that Riot's been expanding. Before that was Zenith Games Blitzcrank and Victorious Blitzcrank. He's been getting fairly regular releases, maybe one every year or so. Not bad for a champion thats been around since launch.

Is Blitzcrank worth buying skins for?

If you play support and enjoy hook champions, absolutely. Blitzcrank is one of those champions where landing Q feels different with a good skin. Space Groove especially changes the entire experience. Even at the Epic tier, Piltover Customs and iBlitzcrank are solid investments. Skip the Standard skins unless you're collecting, the Epics are where the value lives.
