Victorious Blitzcrank

First time I saw Victorious Blitzcrank load in, I thought Riot had finally done right by support mains who grinded ranked all season. Season 11 reward. The golden armor plating on Blitzcrank looked clean in the loading screen, and it translated well in-game too. Not gonna lie, I was expecting another forgettable Victorious skin after some of the earlier ones, but this one had some weight to it.

How Victorious Blitzcrank actually looks on the Rift

Blitzcrank gets a full royal treatment here. Gold and blue armor with ornate detailing across the chest plate and shoulders. The Q hook has new VFX with a golden particle trail that reads well in lane, which matters when you’re trying to land grabs through minion waves. Been running this in Diamond games and the hook animation feels distinct enough from base that opponents sometimes misjudge the hitbox. Placebo? Probably. But I’ll take it.

The W overdrive gets golden speed particles, and E uppercut has a satisfying burst effect. R static field pulses gold instead of the default blue lightning. Nothing groundbreaking for what is technically a Standard tier skin, but the VFX package punches above its weight class. Kinda feels like Riot put in extra effort knowing this would be the ranked flex for an entire season.

Recall animation is new too. Blitzcrank does this victory pose with the Victorious crest, which fits the whole “you earned Gold or higher” vibe. Base voice lines, no changes there. The splash by Forrest Imel and West Studio captures the regal fantasy well, Blitzcrank standing like some ancient guardian with that golden glow behind him.

The Victorious line and how you get this skin

Released November 16, 2021 as the season 11 ranked reward. If you hit Gold or above in any ranked queue, this dropped into your account for free. Special pricing, meaning you cant buy it. Legacy vault skin now, so if you missed season 11 you’re out of luck unless Riot changes their policy on Victorious skins.

The Victorious skinline has been around since Jarvan IV back in season 1. Some hits, some misses. Victorious Blitzcrank sits comfortably in the middle. Not as iconic as Victorious Janna, not as forgettable as some others. Could be wrong here but I think Blitzcrank was a solid pick for the reward that year given how much he was showing up in solo queue and pro play around that time.

10 chromas total, all rank-based. The Diamond chroma in that deep purple is my personal favorite, reads way better than the base gold in teamfights. Challenger chroma goes blue and honestly looks like a completely different skin (random aside: my duo partner got Grandmaster that season specifically because he wanted the red chroma, which is dedication). The chromas split between Solo/Duo and Flex queues, so if you grinded both you could stack different colors.

Is Victorious Blitzcrank worth the grind?

Real verdict: you either have it or you dont. Thats the nature of Victorious skins. No shop availability, no Hextech crafting path. If you were playing ranked in season 11 and hit Gold, congrats. If not, this one’s locked away.

For Blitzcrank mains who own it, I think it holds up well against most of his catalog. The VFX on Q alone make it worth keeping in rotation. Played maybe 200 games with this across season 12 and 13, kept coming back to it over Space Groove and Battle Boss. The Diamond chroma specifically just hits different in bot lane. Not the flashiest Blitzcrank skin, but the one that says “I was there, I earned it.” For a free ranked reward, hard to complain.
