Victorious Jarvan IV

This is the one that started it all. Season 1 reward. Before Victorious skins became a yearly tradition with their own expectations and drama, Jarvan IV just quietly got the first one. Been playing since late season 2 myself so I missed it by a few months, and honestly thats the kind of thing that still stings a little when I see one in loading screen.

The original Victorious look

Victorious Jarvan IV rocks a blue and gold armored aesthetic that screams “I was Gold in season 1.” The color palette leans heavy into royal blue with gold trim across his armor plates and weapon. Not subtle. The VFX got updated too, which surprised me when I first looked into it. His Demacian Standard and Cataclysm carry that blue-gold energy, and the particles on Dragon Strike read cleaner than base in my opinion.

No new voice lines here. Voice stays default. Kyle Hebert’s performance on base Jarvan IV holds up fine though, so not a big deal for a skin from 2011. Could be wrong here but I think the model itself aged better than people give it credit for. Yeah it’s old. Season 1 old. But the silhouette reads well and the armor details are solid for that era of League design.

No new recall animation either. Standard stuff. You Q-E-R in teamfights and the blue VFX on Cataclysm specifically look clean. Played against one last Tuesday in a Diamond game and even on the enemy team the ult wall had that distinct Victorious glow that base just doesnt have.

History behind the first Victorious skin

Released September 14, 2011. Let that sink in. That’s over a decade ago. Andrew ‘Silver’ Silver did the splash, and for 2011 standards it looked premium. The Victorious skinline has grown into one of Riot’s most recognizable reward lines since then. Janna, Elise, Morgana, Maokai – the list keeps going every season. But Jarvan IV was first.

This is a Special tier skin with no RP price attached. You cant buy it. (Random aside: the number of people who message me asking where to get this skin is wild.) It was the Gold+ ranked reward for season 1, and if you weren’t there, you weren’t there. Hextech only these days if you’re lucky enough to roll it from a chest, since it sits in the vault.

The Victorious line has a specific identity now. Blue, gold, regal armor, ranked flex. Jarvan IV fits that template naturally because he’s already Demacian royalty. Kinda feels like Riot picked the perfect champion to launch this concept. A prince in victory armor. Makes sense.

Where Victorious J4 stands today

Real talk though. Jarvan IV has 14 skins now. Darkforge, Warring Kingdoms, Dark Star, Hextech, Nightbringer – the competition is rough. Victorious holds value purely as a status symbol. Nobody is picking this over Dark Star Jarvan IV for the VFX or the model quality. You pick this because you were there in season 1.

No chromas available. No bundle. No way to purchase it. Simple as that.

I’ve seen maybe 4 of these across all my ranked games this season. In Diamond specifically. Most J4 mains I run into are on Nightbringer or the Mythmaker line. When someone does lock in Victorious though, the whole lobby notices. Season 9 or 10, dont remember which, I had a J4 jungle on my team running this skin and he absolutely smurfed on the enemy backline. Ganking bot lane pre-6 with that blue flag and drag combo just hits different with the Victorious particles.

Not gonna lie, if you have this skin, keep it in your rotation. It’s a piece of League history. The model shows its age compared to modern Legendary skins but the flex factor is unmatched. Been spamming Jarvan IV in ranked recently and every time I see someone with this equipped I know they’ve been on the Rift longer than most. For everyone else who missed season 1 – pray to the Hextech gods and maybe you’ll roll it someday. No guarantees.
