SSG Jarvan IV

Locked in SSG Jarvan IV the week it dropped back in July 2018 and honestly it caught me off guard how clean it looked in game. Not gonna lie, I expected another forgettable Worlds skin. The white and blue Samsung Galaxy color scheme just works on J4 in a way it doesnt on every champion who got one that year. Something about the regal stance and the SSG branding on his armor feels right for a champion who’s basically League royalty in the jungle.

How SSG Jarvan IV looks on the Rift

The model swap is the biggest draw here. Jarvan IV gets a full white and blue outfit with gold accents that match the SSG team colors from their 2017 Worlds run. His lance and flag both carry the branding. Clean design overall.

VFX got updated which is solid for a 1350 RP Epic skin. His E-Q combo leaves blue particle trails and the Cataclysm ult drops with SSG-styled effects around the arena walls. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season in Diamond and the flag drop on E feels crisp. The blue particles on his Q read well against most Rift terrain, which matters when you’re ganking through river or diving bot lane specifically.

The recall animation is custom too. Jarvan IV does this victory celebration with the SSG logo, which I think captures that Worlds champion energy better than most esports skins manage. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for this tier and this skinline honestly.

Could be wrong here but the auto attack animations feel slightly different in rhythm. Might just be placebo from the new particles on hit. Either way the skin doesnt feel clunky which is all you can really ask for on a jungler where your combo timing matters pre-6 and in teamfights.

The 2017 Worlds line and who made it

SSG Jarvan IV belongs to the World Champions: 2017 skinline celebrating Samsung Galaxy’s championship run. Released July 20, 2018. Late into season 8 if I remember right. Rudy Siswanto and Pan Chengwei handled the artwork, and the splash captures J4 mid-flag toss with the SSG color palette behind him. Banger composition.

The World Champions: 2017 set had some hits and misses across the roster. Jarvan IV was Ambition’s pick and it shows in the design, they gave it that jungle engage energy. Kinda feels like this one gets overlooked compared to the SSG Ezreal or SSG Xayah and Rakan duo but for J4 mains its a solid option.

One chroma exists for this skin. The Elite chroma shifts the palette toward purple and lighter blue tones. (Random aside: I actually prefer the base white and blue over the Elite version, the purple feels less cohesive with the SSG theme.) Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it whenever. Gotta wait for Worlds events or special shop rotations to pick it up.

Should you pick up SSG Jarvan IV?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on the E-Q combo and ult, custom recall, clean model. Thats the standard Epic package and SSG Jarvan IV delivers on it without doing anything wild. Not the flashiest J4 skin in the catalog. Dark Star and Hextech both push harder on the visual fantasy.

But if you care about esports history or you were watching that 2017 Worlds finals, this skin carries weight that those other options dont. Been running this in ranked around 2 AM on weeknights when I’m grinding and it reads well in teamfights. The blue particles pop against the Rift without being distracting. Worth it for Jarvan IV mains who want something different from the usual fantasy knight aesthetic. Skip it if you already own Dark Star unless you’re collecting the full World Champions: 2017 set. In the Legacy pool so grab it when the vault opens, might not see it again for a while.
