Jarvan IV

Jarvan IV Skins

15 skins available

Jarvan IV has been my go-to jungler since season 3 and honestly his skin catalog is one of those quiet collections that snuck up on everyone. Fifteen skins deep now. Not the flashiest roster compared to Lux or Ezreal but there's real quality here if you know where to look. Been running J4 in Diamond for years and I've tried every single one of these in ranked at some point. Some are easy skips, a few are genuinely elite, and one or two sit in that weird middle ground where you keep them in rotation just because you got bored of your main pick.

How Jarvan IV's Skin Collection Shaped Up

Fifteen skins across fourteen years. Jarvan's first cosmetic dropped back in 2011 with Commando Jarvan IV, and the most recent is Mythmaker Jarvan IV landing in 2025. For a champion that's been in the game since launch basically, fifteen feels about right. Not neglected, not oversaturated.

The tier spread tells an interesting story. Five Standard skins from the early days when Riot was still figuring out what a skin even meant. Eight Epics that cover the bulk of his modern catalog. Two Mythic-tier pieces in Hextech Jarvan IV and Prestige Visions of the Fallen Jarvan IV. No Legendary though. Kinda feels like Riot never saw J4 as a Legendary candidate which is wild considering how iconic his kit is. The EQ combo into R is one of the most recognizable plays in League history and they never gave it the full Legendary treatment with new voiceover and animations.

Not gonna lie, the early skins are rough by today's standards. Commando and Darkforge are basically texture swaps with maybe a slight model change. They were fine in 2011. Playing them now in 2026 feels like wearing a vintage jersey to a modern game - charming in theory, painful in practice. The collection really starts cooking around 2015 with Warring Kingdoms.

Could be wrong here but I think J4 has one of the better champion-to-skin ratios in the game. Meaning most of his skins are actually usable. Compare that to someone like Udyr where half the catalog was basically unplayable before the rework. J4 mains eat pretty well considering he's never been a poster child for skin sales.

Best Skins for Jarvan IV

Dark Star Jarvan IV is the one. Full stop. Released as an Epic at 1350 RP and it absolutely punches above that price point. The E-Q combo leaves this trail of cosmic debris and the Cataclysm ult creates a dark matter arena that just looks menacing. Been spamming this in Diamond since it dropped and the particles on his W shield have this purple-black swirl that reads so clean in teamfights. Every ability got attention here which is rare for an Epic.

Warring Kingdoms Jarvan IV sits right behind it. Also 1350 RP. The Lunar Revel line fits J4's whole royal warrior fantasy perfectly and this skin leans into it hard. Red and gold color scheme, dragon motifs on the armor, and the flag from his E standard looks incredible planted on the Rift. Played maybe 150 games with this one across season 6 and 7. The recall animation where he does the martial arts pose sold me instantly.

Hextech Jarvan IV is the prestige pick. Mythic tier so you're crafting this through gemstones or Mythic Essence depending on when you grabbed it. The blue crystalline armor with hextech energy running through the lance looks premium. Q thrust leaves these geometric shards in its wake. Not sure if it's just me but the auto attack animations feel slightly smoother on this skin. Probably placebo. Still gorgeous though. (sidebar for J4 mains: if you been hoarding Mythic Essence this is one of the better uses for it in the jungle roster)

SSG Jarvan IV deserves a mention for the Worlds skin treatment. 1350 RP, part of the Samsung Galaxy 2017 championship set. Clean white and blue esports aesthetic. The crown on his helmet references the SSG logo and honestly its a solid competitive vibe skin. Locked this in for my entire ranked grind last split just because it felt appropriate for tryhard games.

Nightbringer Jarvan IV rounds out the top five. The chaos demon aesthetic works surprisingly well on a champion who's all about order and command in his base lore. The contrast sells it. R creates this hellish arena of fire and corruption. Looked insane when I dropped it on the enemy ADC near baron pit last Tuesday around midnight. The VFX team cooked on this one.

Skinlines and Where Jarvan Fits

J4 touches a bunch of different skinlines and honestly he fits most of them naturally. The Warring Kingdoms line is probably his best thematic home. He's literally a prince and warrior king in his base lore so dropping him into a Chinese dynasty warrior fantasy just works. No forcing required.

Dark Star is the surprise hit. You wouldn't think "cosmic horror entity" maps onto "Demacian prince with a lance" but Riot made it work. The whole Dark Star line has this gravity to it and J4's kit with the terrain-creating ult translates perfectly into a black hole aesthetic. Might be overthinking it but I think Dark Star J4 is one of the better thematic stretches Riot has pulled off.

The World Champions skins tell their own story. Fnatic Jarvan IV from the 2011 championship and SSG Jarvan IV from 2017. Both esports commemorative pieces. Fnatic's is showing its age badly - it was one of the first Worlds skins ever made and it shows. SSG aged much better with actual model changes and custom particles. (random aside: watching the original Fnatic squad with xPeke and Cyanide run J4 jungle in season 1 is what got me to main him in the first place)

Mythmaker is the newest addition from 2025. Fits into Riot's ongoing Eastern mythology push. Real talk though, the Mythmaker line has been hit or miss across champions and J4's version lands somewhere in the middle for me. Decent but not a must-buy when Dark Star and Warring Kingdoms exist.

Victorious Jarvan IV deserves a special callout even though you cant buy it. Season 1 ranked reward. If you have this skin you're either an OG player from 2011 or you dont have it at all. Pure flex piece. The gold and blue armor looks dated but the clout is unmatched.

Budget vs Premium: Getting the Most Out of Your RP

J4's price range runs from 520 RP on the low end up to 1350 RP for Epics, with the two Mythics sitting outside normal purchase routes. Good news for budget players.

Best value pick is Dragonslayer Jarvan IV if you can find it at its price point. For the cheapest options, Commando and Darkforge sit at Standard pricing. They're bare-bones texture changes but if you just want something different from base J4 for minimal investment they exist. Fair warning, you will notice the quality gap the second you see someone else running Dark Star in your game.

At the Epic tier everything is 1350 RP and this is where J4's catalog really lives. Eight of his fifteen skins sit here. Dark Star and Warring Kingdoms are the obvious picks. If you can only buy one skin for Jarvan IV, grab Dark Star at 1350 RP. Best particles, best thematic execution, best feeling in ranked. Worth every point of RP.

The Mythic options require either grinding Mythic Essence or getting lucky with loot drops. Hextech Jarvan IV is worth the Essence if you main him. Prestige Visions of the Fallen is the collector's piece. Neither is necessary to enjoy J4 at his visual best since Dark Star competes with both of them for less investment. Smart money goes Epic here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Jarvan IV have?

Fifteen skins total as of 2025. Five Standard tier from the early days, eight Epics that make up the bulk of his modern collection, and two Mythic pieces in Hextech and Prestige Visions of the Fallen. Solid catalog for a champion thats been around since launch. Not the biggest roster but quality is there especially in the Epic tier.

What is the best Jarvan IV skin?

Dark Star Jarvan IV. Not even close in my opinion. The cosmic VFX on every ability look incredible, the ult arena is genuinely intimidating, and it's only 1350 RP. Been my go-to J4 skin in ranked for multiple seasons now. Warring Kingdoms is the runner-up if you prefer the warrior king aesthetic over space horror.

What is the cheapest Jarvan IV skin?

Commando Jarvan IV and Darkforge Jarvan IV sit at the Standard tier pricing around 520-750 RP range. They're basic texture changes from the early days of League. Functional but dated. If you want the cheapest option that still looks decent, Dragonslayer is a step up without breaking the bank.

Does Jarvan IV have a Legendary skin?

Nope. No Legendary for J4 as of 2025. Kinda surprising honestly given how long he's been in the game and how iconic his kit is. His highest tier skins are Mythic - Hextech and Prestige Visions of the Fallen. Maybe Riot will give him a Legendary eventually but nothing announced yet. His Epics carry the weight well enough.

What skinlines is Jarvan IV in?

J4 appears across a bunch of lines. Warring Kingdoms from the Lunar Revel series, Dark Star, Commando, Nightbringer, Pool Party, Lunar Beast, Mythmaker, and two World Champions skins for Fnatic 2011 and SSG 2017. Plus Victorious from the season 1 ranked reward. Wide thematic range for the prince of Demacia.

Does Jarvan IV have chromas?

Several of his newer Epic skins come with chroma options. Dark Star, Pool Party, Lunar Beast, and Nightbringer all have chroma sets available. If you're picking up Dark Star I'd check the chromas too, some of the color variants hit different than the base purple-black scheme. Worth browsing before you commit to just the base skin.

When was Jarvan IV's last skin released?

Mythmaker Jarvan IV dropped in 2025 as part of the Mythmaker skinline. Before that was Prestige Visions of the Fallen which also landed relatively recently. Riot's been giving J4 fairly consistent attention the last few years. Not yearly like Lux or Ezreal but he's not forgotten either. Respectable cadence for a jungle pick.

Is Jarvan IV worth buying skins for?

If you main him or play him regularly in jungle, absolutely. Dark Star alone justifies the investment at 1350 RP. His base model is fine but it looks ancient compared to modern champions. A good skin makes the EQ combo and Cataclysm feel way more impactful. Even one Epic-tier purchase transforms the experience honestly. J4 mains eat well here.
