First time I saw Witch’s Brew Blitzcrank load into my game I genuinely thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. A giant cauldron robot stomping around bot lane with a ladle for an arm. Took me a solid five seconds to process. Been running this in ranked since late 2019 and the reactions from teammates never get old. Someone in my Diamond lobby last month typed “nice skin bro” before minions even spawned.

The cauldron robot fantasy

So Blitzcrank is literally a walking witch’s cauldron. His body is this big bubbling pot with green liquid sloshing around inside, and his hook arm is a massive ladle. The whole silhouette reads completely different from base Blitzcrank. Thats the biggest win here. You Q someone with a ladle. Let that sink in.

The VFX work is where Riot put in real effort for this Epic tier skin. His Q shoots out this green magical goop trail instead of the standard fist. When you land the hook, there’s splashes of potion everywhere. W speed boost gets these bubbling particle effects around him, feels like the cauldron is boiling over as you run someone down. E uppercut has a burst of green sparks. R static field pulses out with this witchy purple-green lightning that reads cleaner than base in teamfights.

Not gonna lie, the recall animation carries hard. Blitzcrank stirs his own cauldron body with the ladle arm, tosses in some ingredients, and a little bat flies out. Simple concept but the execution is clean. Could be wrong here but I think the bat is a nod to the broader Trick-or-Treat skinline vibe. Fits perfectly.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for a 1350 RP skin. The base Blitzcrank voice still works fine with the theme honestly, all that “the time of man has come to an end” stuff sounds appropriately ominous coming from a witch pot.

Trick-or-Treat lineup and the details

Witch’s Brew Blitzcrank dropped October 24, 2019. Right before Halloween, obviously. Part of Riot’s Trick-or-Treat skinline which has some bangers in it. Trick or Treat Ekko came out the same year I think. The Halloween skins always have this specific energy where Riot’s art team just goes wild with the concepts.

Choe HeonHwa nailed the splash. The composition puts Blitzcrank in this dark forest clearing with the cauldron bubbling, moonlight cutting through the trees. One of the better seasonal splash arts that year for sure. (Random aside: I had this as my Discord profile picture for like three months straight after release.)

Six chromas total for this one. Obsidian turns the whole thing into this dark iron cauldron look, very clean if you want something less goofy. Aquamarine swaps the green brew for blue which reads like a frost potion vibe. Ruby is fine but honestly doesnt change enough from the base to justify picking it over the others. The rest fill out the collection but those two are the standouts in my experience.

Legacy vault skin. You cant just grab it any time, gotta wait for the vault to open or get lucky with Hextech crafting. Usually comes back around October which makes sense for a Halloween skin. Seen maybe 4 of these in my games all of season 14.

Worth the 1350 RP?

Real verdict: Witch’s Brew Blitzcrank is one of those skins that’s better than it has any right to be. The concept sounds ridiculous on paper. Cauldron robot. Ladle hook. But the VFX are genuinely good for an Epic, the model is completely transformed, and the recall is fun without being obnoxious.

For Blitzcrank mains specifically, this competes with iBlitzcrank and Lancer Paragon for best skin on the champ. Different vibes though. iBlitzcrank is the clean futuristic option, Lancer Paragon is the prestige flex, and Witch’s Brew is the personality pick. Been spamming this in Diamond during October and switching back to Space Groove the rest of the year. Kinda feels like it loses some magic outside of the Halloween season but that might just be me.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, full VFX overhaul on Q W E R, custom recall. No new voice but thats expected at this price point. If you play Blitzcrank support even semi-regularly and you spot this in the Legacy vault rotation, lock it in. The hook landing with that green potion splash just hits different in lane. Skip it if you only play Blitzcrank once every two months though, not worth hunting down a Legacy skin for occasional use.

Might be overthinking it but I genuinely believe the ladle Q animation has a slightly different feel to it. Like the windup looks distinct enough that enemies read it half a second slower. Could be placebo. Probably is. But in that ranked game last Tuesday around 1 AM where I landed five hooks in lane phase, something was working. Best support skin for tilting the enemy ADC, full stop.
