Scuba Gragas

Played maybe 200 games with this skin back around season 3 or 4, and honestly it still cracks me up every time Gragas waddles into lane wearing a full wetsuit and flippers. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about a drunk dude in scuba gear belly-slamming people that never gets old. Pure comedy pick.

What Scuba Gragas actually looks like in game

This is a Standard tier skin so dont expect anything wild on the VFX side. Base voice lines, no new particles, no recall animation. Straight texture swap. Gragas trades his usual barrel-and-rags look for a black wetsuit, diving mask pushed up on his forehead, and flippers on his feet. The barrel stays but it fits the beach bum vibe somehow.

The model itself reads clean against the Rift. Dark wetsuit contrasts well with Summoner’s Rift greens, which is more than I can say for some skins twice this price. In teamfights you can still track him easily. His Q barrel roll, W chug, E body slam, R ult – all use default animations and effects. No VO refresh either.

Kinda feels like Riot just wanted to answer the question “what if Gragas went to the beach instead of the tavern.” Simple change – big payoff in terms of humor. Been running this in Diamond norms when I want to tilt the enemy laner psychologically. Hard to take a gank seriously when a scuba diver flashes on you with body slam.

The Day Job line and release history

Scuba Gragas dropped May 3, 2010. Ancient skin. We’re talking pre-rework Gragas here, back when his Q was basically a nuke and mid lane Gragas was terrorizing solo queue. Season 1 vibes. The skin survived his full gameplay update and still looks fine on the modern model, which is more than some 2010 skins can claim.

Part of the Day Job skinline. Riot had this whole concept of champions with regular jobs: Gragas as a scuba diver, and a few other champs got similar treatment. The line wasnt huge but the idea is solid. Champions doing normal people things. (Random aside: I always wondered if scuba Gragas is diving for more barrels or just on vacation from the Rift.)

Priced at 975 RP. Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever. Sits in the vault and pops up during legacy sales or special events. Could also roll it from Hextech chests if you’re lucky. Last time I saw one of these in my games was maybe two patches ago, real talk though most Gragas mains go for Oktoberfest or Caskbreaker instead.

Should you pick up Scuba Gragas?

Straight talk: this is a novelty skin. You’re not buying Scuba Gragas for competitive advantage or sick particle effects. You’re buying it because you main Gragas and want to flex a rare legacy skin in your collection. 975 RP feels fair for what you get, especially since the model work holds up better than expected for a 2010 release.

If you’re a Gragas one-trick climbing through ranked this season, keep it in rotation for the mental edge. Last Tuesday around 2 AM I body slammed their Jinx into my team wearing this thing and my ADC typed “the scuba man sends his regards” in all chat. Worth it for moments like that alone. Best comedy Gragas skin full stop, even if Oktoberfest gets more love overall. Could be wrong here but I think the scarcity factor makes it hit different when it actually shows up in a game. Skip it if you only play Gragas casually, but for mains and collectors this one earns its spot.
