Superfan Gragas

Locked this skin in during the 2014 World Cup event and honestly havent looked back since. Superfan Gragas turns the big guy into a rowdy football hooligan complete with face paint, a jersey, and a barrel that looks like it belongs in a stadium parking lot. First game I played with it, my duo said Gragas looked like he was about to start a chant in the stands. Fair enough.

What the skin actually changes

For a Standard tier skin at 750 RP, Superfan Gragas delivers more than you’d expect. The model swap puts Gragas in a full football supporter outfit. Red and white face paint, a number 1 jersey stretched over his gut, and shorts that somehow make him look even more ridiculous than base. Love it.

The VFX got a touch-up too. His Q barrel rolls out looking like a proper football, which is a small detail but it lands perfectly in lane. Throwing a football-shaped barrel into the enemy ADC during a teamfight? Comedy. Been running this in Diamond during ARAM nights and the barrel VFX always gets a comment in all chat. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but that’s expected at this price point.

No new recall animation either. Kinda feels like Riot could have added him doing a victory lap or something, but for 750 RP in 2014 this was already generous. The auto attacks feel the same, E body slam unchanged visually. Simple change – huge impact on the vibe though. Playing Gragas with this skin just feels more fun, like you’re not trying to be serious about the comp at all.

Soccer Cup and the 2014 release

Superfan Gragas dropped June 18, 2014 as part of the Soccer Cup skinline. Riot released a whole batch of football themed skins that summer to ride the World Cup hype. Smart move honestly. The Soccer Cup line included a few other champions but Gragas fit the theme better than anyone else in the roster. Big dude, loves to drink, ready to throw down. Thats literally every football superfan I’ve ever met.

(Random aside: I still remember watching the actual World Cup that year while grinding ranked. Split screen setup, Korea vs Algeria on one monitor, bot lane Gragas on the other. Season 4 I think, maybe early season 5 dont remember exactly.)

No splash artist credited in the data for this one. The splash itself shows Gragas mid-celebration with his barrel raised, face paint smeared, looking like he just watched his team score in extra time. Not the most detailed splash Riot has ever put out but it captures the energy perfectly.

Should you pick up Superfan Gragas?

Real verdict: this is a Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. Sits in the vault and only comes out during special events or you need to roll it from chests. For 750 RP when it does show up, it’s a solid pickup for Gragas mains. Not gonna lie, I think it’s one of the more fun Gragas skins even compared to pricier options like Gragas Caskbreaker.

Could be wrong here but I feel like this skin shows up maybe once a year during some rotating shop or legacy sale. Seen maybe 2 of these in my games all season which makes it feel a bit exclusive. If you play Gragas in the jungle or top lane and want something lighthearted, this beats running default. The football barrel Q alone justifies the price. Skip it if you already own Oktoberfest though, that one edges it out for pure personality. Worth 750 RP if you main Gragas and catch it in the vault rotation.
