First time I saw Playmaker Lee Sin load in on the enemy team I thought someone modded their client. Full soccer kit on a blind monk who roundhouse kicks people into towers. Honestly not gonna lie, the concept is so dumb it works. Riot dropped this June 14, 2018 as part of the Soccer Cup line and it still holds up as one of the more fun Lee Sin skins if you dont take yourself too seriously.
What the skin actually changes
Lee Sin gets a full footballer outfit. Shin guards, cleats, the whole deal. His model swap is clean for a 975 RP Standard tier skin. The headband stays but reads more like an athletic sweatband now, which fits the vibe perfectly.
New VFX across the kit lean into the soccer theme. His Q sends out a ball-shaped energy trail that connects on impact. Not a massive change but noticeable enough in lane. The recall animation is where they went hard though. Lee Sin juggles a soccer ball, does some tricks, then kicks it off screen. Been running this in my Diamond games and every single time someone pings the recall animation at least one teammate types something in chat about it. Small detail, big personality.
Voice lines stay base. No VO refresh. For 975 RP thats expected. The base Feodor Chin performance carries enough weight on its own anyway. Q/W/E all feel responsive, no weird animation jank that some older skins have. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations feel slightly snappier than default, might just be placebo from the cleaner model though.
Soccer Cup line and the splash
Alvin Lee nailed the splash. Lee Sin mid-bicycle-kick in a stadium full of fans. The composition reads like a sports magazine cover and honestly its my second monitor wallpaper at work (sidebar: my coworkers think its from an actual anime, I never corrected them).
The Soccer Cup skinline is Riot’s recurring World Cup tie-in. It shares the roster with skins like Red Card Katarina and Goalkeeper Maokai. Seasonal theme that comes back every major tournament cycle. Soccer Cup as a line doesnt take itself seriously and Playmaker Lee Sin fits that energy.
8 chromas total. Obsidian goes full dark kit, reads like a referee uniform almost. Emerald hits that national team green hard, my go-to for when I want the Brazil vibe. Rose Quartz is the sleeper pick, the pink cleats against the base model contrast catches the eye in teamfights. Not gonna list every single one but Sapphire and Tanzanite both compete for the deep blue slot and I think Sapphire wins there.
Should you grab Playmaker Lee Sin?
Real verdict: this is a Legacy vault skin so you cant just walk into the shop and buy it. Sits in the vault. You either wait for a Legacy sale event or roll it from Hextech crafting. 975 RP feels fair for what you get when it does come around. New VFX, new recall, solid model. For a Standard tier skin it punches above its weight.
Played maybe 40 games with this last season around playoffs. The soccer ball Q is genuinely satisfying to land, especially when you Q into the backline and insec their ADC into your team. Kinda feels like the skin was built for highlight reels. If you’re a Lee Sin main climbing through ranked and you already own God Fist or Storm Dragon for the tryhard games, Playmaker is the perfect skin to lock in when you want to have fun in norms or flex queue on a Friday night.
Skip it if you need new voice lines or transforming effects. This isnt that skin. But for the Soccer Cup fantasy on a champion whose entire kit revolves around kicks? Perfect match. 975 RP well spent for mains, assuming you can get your hands on it.
