First time I saw Space Groove Zac load in, I genuinely thought someone modded their client. Zac looking like a disco ball that melted into a lava lamp was not on my bingo card. Been running this in Diamond for a solid chunk of games now and the vibe is just different. You bounce into a teamfight looking like you belong on a 70s dance floor.

What Space Groove actually does to Zac

So the base model is the star here. Zac goes from green blob to this funky purple-pink gelatinous party animal. The color shift alone makes him feel like a completely different champion on the Rift. His body has these swirling patterns that pulse when he moves, kinda feels like watching one of those old screensavers from the 2000s.

His Q connects look cleaner with the new color palette. Not gonna lie, landing the slingshot E from fog of war onto their backline hits different when you’re a neon purple blob streaking across the screen. The passive blobs that drop when you take damage match the groovy aesthetic too, little disco chunks scattered around the lane.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO here. Standard for an Epic at 1350 RP. The model work carries this skin though. (Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this because he says it hurts his eyes in bot lane specifically.) Could be wrong here but I think the W puddle slam reads slightly different with the Space Groove colors, the purple pool on the ground is easier to track than base green in certain river fights.

No new recall animation which is a miss honestly. Zac’s base recall is fine but a disco dance wouldve been perfect for this skinline. The R ultimate bouncing around in a teamfight looks solid though. Purple Zac ragdolling through five people near dragon pit last Thursday around midnight was peak League content.

The Space Groove line and where Zac fits

Space Groove is one of Riot’s more creative skinlines. The whole 70s disco-in-space theme works surprisingly well for a roster that includes everything from Lulu to Nasus. Zac fits naturally into Space Groove because his whole kit is about bouncing and stretching, perfect for a dance-themed line.

8 chromas total for Space Groove Zac. Obsidian turns him into this dark almost void-like blob that reads way cleaner than base in my opinion. Tanzanite pushes the purple deeper and feels more “cosmic” than the default skin color. Pearl is the safe pick if you want something lighter, almost pastel. Shop has it permanently so no rush.

This is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. No splash artist credited in the data I could find. The splash itself captures the energy well, Zac mid-stretch with all the Space Groove visual flair around him. Not the most detailed splash in the game but it does the job.

Should you pick up Space Groove Zac?

Real verdict: if you main Zac and want something that isnt green, this is a strong option. Spammed this in Diamond ranked for maybe 15 games in a row one weekend and the novelty didnt wear off. The color palette alone justifies the purchase for Zac one-tricks who are tired of looking at the same green blob every game.

Competition is real though. Pool Party Zac exists. Battlecast Zac exists. SKT T1 Zac for the esports crowd. Space Groove Zac sits comfortably in the middle of his skin catalog. Not the best Zac skin full stop, but definitely top three.

Thing is, Zac doesnt have a Legendary. No skin with new voice lines, no skin with a complete overhaul. So you’re picking between Epics and below for the most part. In that context 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The model change is significant enough that it reads as a different champion in lane, and the chromas give you options if the base purple doesnt click.

Been maining Zac with this skin on and off since picking it up. Keep coming back to it over his other options. If you play Zac in jungle, the ganking angle with E looks genuinely hilarious as a purple streak flying out of nowhere. Worth it for mains, skip if you’re not committed to the blob life. (Sidebar for Zac mains specifically: you already know the blob collection passive looks cleaner in purple than green, thats reason enough.)
