Zac Skins

7 skins available

Zac is one of those champions where the skin catalog tells you Riot never quite knew what to do with him. Seven skins across eleven years. Thats not a lot for a champ who's been around since season 3. But honestly? The ones he does have range from genuinely creative to "yeah that exists I guess." Been playing Zac on and off since his release, mostly as a jungle flex in Diamond, and I've owned every skin at some point. Some stayed in rotation. Some got benched after a week. Real talk though, the blob deserves more love than he gets from the skin team.

How Zac's Skin Collection Shaped Up Over the Years

Seven skins total spanning from 2013 to 2024. For context, champions released around the same time have double or triple that count. Zac launched with Special Weapon Zac as his only alternative and then Riot basically forgot about him for stretches. The breakdown is simple: one Standard tier skin and six Epics all sitting at 1350 RP. No Legendary. No Ultimate. No Prestige. Just a stack of 1350s and one older release priced at 975.

Could be wrong here but I think part of the problem is his model. Zac's blobby shape makes it harder to design skins that read clearly in teamfights. Every skin has to work with his stretching animations, his Q grab, his E slingshot, the passive blobs. That limits what the art team can do compared to a humanoid champion where you just slap new armor on. Still though. Seven skins in eleven years is rough.

The pace picked up a bit recently. Empyrean dropped, then Zesty Dip, then Space Groove. Three skins in the last few years after long droughts earlier in his life. Feels like Riot finally put him back on the skin schedule. Not gonna lie, the quality improved too. Early Zac skins were basically recolors with minor texture work. The newer Epics actually change particles, add new sound effects, give him personality beyond "green blob jumping at you."

Best Skins for Zac

Pool Party Zac. Full stop. This is the skin. Been running this in ranked for years and it still holds up. The entire concept just works - he's made of water instead of goo, his E slingshot has a pool floatie, the blobs from passive look like water droplets. His Q feels different with the splashy effects. Every ability got the treatment here and at 1350 RP its a steal for how much it changes the experience. The recall animation where he cannonballs into a pool? Chef's kiss. Played maybe 150 games with this skin last season alone.

Battlecast Zac is the serious pick. If Pool Party is the fun skin, Battlecast is the one you lock in when you want to look intimidating in champ select. Red and metallic color scheme, mechanical sound effects on his W, the whole Viktor-aligned Battlecast aesthetic works surprisingly well on a blob champion. His E launch has this industrial quality to it. The passive blobs look like machine parts which is a nice touch. Kinda feels like they put real effort into making it feel like a different champion.

Space Groove Zac surprised me. Wasnt expecting much from this skinline on Zac specifically but the disco-funk theme translates well. Purple and pink color palette, groovy VFX on all abilities, the R knockup has this retro energy. Not my main rotation skin but I pull it out when I'm in a good mood. The chromas help here too.

Empyrean Zac goes for the cosmic energy look. Blue and white particles, ethereal sound design. Solid skin. Not the most exciting of the Empyrean line but it gives Zac a completely different vibe from his base. Good for when you want something clean and not memey.

Zesty Dip Zac from the Food Fight line is pure comedy. He's made of guacamole or salsa or something, I think Riot described it as queso. Honestly the Food Fight skins are either your thing or they aren't. Took this into a few ranked games around the time it dropped and my duo couldnt stop laughing at the recall. Fun novelty pick but I rotated back to Pool Party after about two weeks.

Skinlines and Where Zac Fits

Zac shows up in some interesting skinlines. Pool Party is the obvious standout - that line was basically made for champions with flexible models and Zac being literal liquid fits perfectly. Battlecast is another natural fit since the whole line is about Viktor converting organic champions into machines and a shapeshifting blob becoming a shapeshifting machine just makes sense thematically.

World Champions 2016 gave us SKT T1 Zac which is a worlds skin. These are always tricky because they're designed to honor the player, not necessarily to be the coolest looking skin. It's fine for what it is. The white and red SKT colors on Zac look clean enough. Not sure if it's just me but I rarely see this one in my games. Maybe three times all of last season.

The newer lines - Empyrean, Food Fight, Space Groove - show Riot experimenting more with Zac's aesthetic. Space Groove especially works because the psychedelic colors pop on his translucent model. Empyrean goes cosmic which is a safe choice. Food Fight is the wild card, turning him into a condiment. Not every skinline suits every champion but I think Zac's adaptable enough that most themes land okay on him. His blob form is basically a blank canvas.

Missing from his catalog: anything dark or edgy. No Dark Star Zac, no Blood Moon, no Coven equivalent. Might be overthinking it but a Void-themed or corrupted Zac skin could go hard. The champion literally absorbs things into his body - lean into the horror angle. Riot if you're reading this, season 15 please.

Budget vs Premium: Getting the Most Out of Zac's Catalog

Here's where Zac's skin situation is actually kind of nice. Since there's no Legendary or Ultimate, you're never facing that "do I drop 1820 RP" decision. Everything except Special Weapon is 1350. Special Weapon sits at 975 and honestly for that price it barely changes anything - its the oldest skin and it shows. Texture swap, minimal particle work, base voice lines. Skip it unless you're a completionist.

Best value is Pool Party Zac at 1350 RP. No question. It changes the most about the champion feel for the standard Epic price. If you're climbing with Zac jungle and want one skin, thats the one. Battlecast is the runner up if you prefer something more aggressive looking.

For players who main Zac and want variety, honestly picking up two or three during a sale rotation isn't a bad call. 1350 at 50% off is 675 RP which is nothing. Been daily driving Pool Party with Battlecast and Space Groove as alternates. Three skins covers basically every mood. Fair warning though - with only seven options total you'll cycle through them fast. Most champions with 15+ skins give you more rotation variety but Zac's smaller catalog means each skin gets more play time. Maybe thats a positive depending on how you look at it.

Real talk though, Zac deserves a Legendary. Full new VO, evolved animations, the works. The champion's kit is so visually unique that a premium skin treatment could be incredible. Until then, the 1350 tier carries the whole catalog. And it carries it pretty well.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Zac have?

Zac has 7 skins total as of 2024. One Standard tier skin from his 2013 release and six Epic skins at 1350 RP each. Not the biggest catalog for a champion thats been around since season 3 but the quality on the newer ones is solid. Riot's been picking up the pace recently which is good to see.

What is the best Zac skin?

Pool Party Zac. Not even close in my opinion. The water theme fits his blobby model perfectly, every ability got new VFX, and the recall is genuinely funny. Been spamming this one for years. Battlecast Zac is the runner up if you want something more serious for ranked.

What is the cheapest Zac skin?

Special Weapon Zac at 975 RP is the cheapest option. It's his launch skin from 2013 though and it shows. Minimal changes from base. Honestly I'd save up for one of the 1350 Epics instead - Pool Party or Battlecast give you way more for 375 extra RP. Worth the upgrade.

Does Zac have a Legendary skin?

Nope. No Legendary, no Ultimate, no Prestige. Zac's entire catalog sits at Epic tier and below. Kinda wild for a champion released in 2013. He's overdue for one honestly. A Legendary with new voice lines and evolved animations on that stretchy kit could be something special. Riot please.

What skinlines is Zac in?

Zac appears in Pool Party, Battlecast, World Champions 2016 (SKT T1), Empyrean, Food Fight, and Space Groove. Also Special Weapon which is kind of its own thing from his launch. Decent variety across themes. Pool Party and Battlecast fit him best in my experience. Space Groove is a sleeper pick too.

Does Zac have chromas?

Some of his newer skins have chromas available. Space Groove Zac and a few others got the chroma treatment. They're nice for variety especially on a champion with a limited skin count. I think the chromas work well on Zac since his translucent model makes color shifts look clean. Worth grabbing during Essence Emporium.

When was Zac's last skin released?

Zesty Dip Zac from the Food Fight line dropped in 2024 and Space Groove Zac came around the same period. Riot's been giving him more attention lately after some long gaps between releases. Before that stretch there were multi-year droughts. Nice to see the blob getting some love finally.

Is Zac worth buying skins for?

If you main him, absolutely. Pool Party alone justifies the investment. Zac's a reliable jungle pick across metas and having a good skin makes the grind better. Since everything is 1350 or less you're not dropping huge RP either. Grab Pool Party, maybe Battlecast for variety, and you're set for climbing.
