Twisted Fate in a retro space disco costume sounds like a joke until you actually load into a game with it. Space Groove Twisted Fate dropped November 17, 2022 and I remember queuing into ranked on patch 12.22, seeing TF in champ select, and just staring at the splash for a second before locking in. Pastel rockets. Card animations with cosmic shimmer. A recall that belongs in a 70s science fiction film poster. Good weird. Not bad weird.

What actually changes with Space Groove Twisted Fate

Cards. That’s the whole show. Twisted Fate’s kit is basically a card animation showcase anyway, and this Epic delivers new VFX across Q, W, and the recall. Wild Cards from the Q have a neon-pastel shimmer, retro shooting stars trailing each throw. They read clearly at range which matters more than aesthetics when you’re poking a mid laner pre-6 and trying to land a stun from distance.

Pick a Card, the W, is where Twisted Fate mains actually sweat the details, and Space Groove handles the three-color rotation well. Blue, red, gold still pop cleanly against the Rift background during a teamfight. Messing up your card select mid-engage because the VFX are too busy is a real issue with some TF skins. Not here. The colors are distinct enough that muscle memory kicks in without second-guessing.

The recall is new and genuinely great. TF does a little disco shimmy before getting pulled into a glowing space vortex. Might be overthinking it but this sits in the top three recalls in the entire Space Groove skinline. Been running it in solo queue since day one and my team pings it basically every base. Stacked Deck, the E, gets subtle particle tweaks too – stays consistent with the theme without going overboard.

No new VO. Voice lines stay base, Owen Thomas’s delivery is unchanged. For a 1350 RP Epic thats exactly what you’d expect; the budget goes into the model and VFX, not a new voice recording session.

Release date, splash artists, and the Space Groove line

Eric Xie and West Studio on the splash. They cooked. TF mid-throw with a cosmic starfield behind him, suit half-open like a galactic lounge act. The composition holds up well even at small loading-screen sizes. Been using it as my champ select background most of the season when I’m spamming Twisted Fate in Diamond.

The Space Groove skinline launched its main wave in 2021, and Twisted Fate joined November 17, 2022 alongside Space Groove Gragas in the same patch drop. The retro-disco-space aesthetic fits TF in a way that’s not immediately obvious but clicks in practice. There’s something about a card shark operating in the cosmos – the personality angle lands harder than straight sci-fi would on this champion.

There’s 8 chromas available through the shop. Rainbow is the one worth calling out first: it cycles through the retro color palette on ability proc and reads completely different from the base skin. Tanzanite goes deep purple, leans more arcane mage than riverboat gambler, which genuinely changes the character vibe. Obsidian strips everything dark, near-black cards against a shadowed model – clean if you want your TF to look menacing rather than groovy. The other five exist. Permanent shop rotation.

Is Space Groove Twisted Fate worth 1350 RP?

Straight talk: yes, if Twisted Fate is actually in your champion pool. This is a skin built for mains. The VFX are clear enough not to hurt your gameplay reads and fun enough to make lane prio feel slightly less painful when you’re grinding ranked for LP. That recall alone justifies the buy for anyone who spams TF for climbing.

Not sure if it’s just me but Space Groove Twisted Fate lands comfortably in the top half of his skin catalog. Better than Odyssey TF for in-game VFX readability. Behind Pulsefire TF in overall production value – Pulsefire is still the gold standard on this champion. But at 1350 RP you’re not paying Legendary prices, and you’re getting a consistent, personality-packed Epic that fully commits to the Space Groove theme without losing clarity on the cards that matter.

1350 feels fair for what you get. One-tricks already know. Skip only if you own Pulsefire and need to spend elsewhere.
