Crime City Nightmare Twisted Fate

Been running Crime City Nightmare Twisted Fate since late August 2021 and the thematic fit here is almost unfair in how well it works. Twisted Fate deals cards and deals with criminals – the Crime City Nightmare universe was built for him. The splash pulls you in before you even hit load screen: dark alley, neon reflections, TF looking like he’s already read your hand. Banger splash.

What Crime City Nightmare Twisted Fate changes in-game

This Epic tier skin brings new VFX across the full kit and a new recall. No new voice lines – base VO stays, no changes. Standard for 1350 RP.

Card throws feel darker and more deliberate than base Twisted Fate. Less street performer, more actual threat. The Q animation has real weight behind it – you’re flicking playing cards like actual weapons rather than the loose floaty base version. Pick-a-card is where Crime City Nightmare shines hardest: gold, red, and blue card clarity in teamfights is really clean. No visual noise cluttering your read when you’re trying to proc the stun on a backline carry mid-engage. W readability is underrated by people who don’t main TF and Crime City Nightmare’s color coding is one of the better implementations across all his skins.

The R feels appropriately ominous for the Crime City Nightmare theme without going overboard. Was in a Diamond ranked game last September and landed three consecutive gold cards coming out of ult – thats how sharp the animations read when you’re spamming TF in solo queue. The recall is solid too: TF shuffles cards, the nightmare aesthetic plays out fully, nothing filler about it.

Where Twisted Fate fits the Crime City Nightmare skinline

Crime City Nightmare is one of Riot’s stronger horror-noir themed lines. The batch dropped in late August 2021 alongside Akali, Darius, Shaco, and others – TF is the best executed of the set, I’d argue. The card-shark-meets-nightmare-crime-boss angle is too perfect to waste and Riot didn’t waste it. (sidebar for TF mains specifically: this replaced my Tango TF as the ranked lock-in within the first two weeks of owning both)

Model is dark suit, fedora, full crime boss aesthetic. Voice lines stay base – Owen Thomas voiced the original and honestly it holds up fine without an update. No new lines. Not gonna lie, for an Epic the no-VO tradeoff is acceptable when the VFX are this clean.

Nine chromas and the release package

There’s 9 chromas for Crime City Nightmare Twisted Fate. Obsidian goes nearly full black and reads cleaner in-lane than you’d expect – card VFX pop against the dark model during ganking sequences in ways that actually help your positioning read. Underground is the standout: dark purple and maroon that leans harder into the nightmare angle than base does. Amethyst is my personal pick, the deep purple reads cleanly against the Rift in most comps you’ll run into at Diamond.

Released August 26, 2021. Edward Chee and West Studio on the splash – they cooked. Nine chromas total means there’s solid variety whatever direction you want to take the aesthetic.

Is Crime City Nightmare Twisted Fate worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: yes. New VFX across the whole kit, a proper recall, nine chromas, and quality splash art. This Epic earns its price. Worth it.

Shop has it permanently – if you’re one-tricking or spamming Twisted Fate in Diamond solo queue this season, Crime City Nightmare Twisted Fate is the skin to lock in. Obsidian chroma looks menacing on the Rift and holds up without add-ons too. Skip it only if TF isn’t in your champion pool. Mains get full value here, casuals less so.
