First time I saw Reaper Soraka load in, I thought someone was trolling with a custom skin. Soraka looking like she crawled out of a horror movie instead of healing your ADC through a teamfight. Not gonna lie, that contrast between her usual celestial healer fantasy and this death-themed redesign caught me off guard in the best way. Been running this as my main Soraka skin since around season 7 and its hard to go back to anything else once you’ve seen the dark side of the banana lady.

What Reaper Soraka actually brings to the table

The whole model gets a complete overhaul. Soraka trades her usual starlight aesthetic for a ghostly, spectral look with tattered robes and this sickle-shaped staff that honestly looks more fitting on Karthus than a support. The color palette shifts to dark purples, greens, and blacks. Spooky stuff.

VFX got a proper rework for this one. Her Q drops these eerie green circles on the ground instead of the standard starfall, and the heal on her W has this shadowy particle trail that reads really clean in lane. Could be wrong here but I think the E silence zone looks slightly different too, more of a dark mist spreading across the ground. The ult is where it gets interesting though. Wish of the Stars becomes this wave of dark energy washing over the map. Played maybe 200 games with this skin and I still get a kick out of watching the green pulse hit all five teammates during a messy dragon fight.

New recall animation too. She does this reaper-themed scythe spin that fits the whole vibe. Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh, which is a minor letdown at the 1350 RP price point. But the visual package carries it. Simple change – huge impact on how she feels in game.

The Death Sworn line and release context

Reaper Soraka dropped November 5, 2014. Right around the Harrowing event that year. Sperasoft Studio handled the artwork, and they nailed the splash. The pose with the scythe raised against that stormy background is genuinely one of the better support splashes from that era (random aside: this splash was my desktop wallpaper for like three months straight).

Part of the Death Sworn skinline, which is one of Riot’s smaller thematic groups. The line never got the same love as something like Coven or Spirit Blossom, but the skins in it have this understated quality that ages well. Death Sworn Viktor and Katarina exist in the same universe. Kinda feels like Riot forgot about the Death Sworn theme after a while, which is a shame because the concept had legs.

There’s 1 chroma available, the Doom variant. It shifts the palette toward reds and deep purples, giving Soraka more of a blood mage look than a ghostly reaper. Honestly the Doom chroma hits harder than base for me. The red particles against the dark model pop in teamfights, especially when you’re peeling for your backline and dropping Qs everywhere around mid game. Last Tuesday I had a ranked game where my Kayn kept diving in 1v3 and the Doom chroma healing VFX were the only thing keeping that mess visible in the chaos.

Legacy vault and who should care

This one sits in the vault. Legacy catalog skin, so you cant just grab it whenever you want. You’re waiting for a Harrowing event rotation or getting lucky with Hextech crafting. That scarcity bumps it up a bit in terms of flex value. Seen maybe 5 of these in my Diamond games all season.

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul, new recall, and the model redesign check the boxes for an Epic tier skin. No new voice lines keeps it from being exceptional, but the visual identity is strong enough to carry. If you main Soraka and you find this during a vault opening, lock it in. Star Guardian Soraka gets more hype and Dawnbringer Soraka is flashier, but Reaper has this edge that none of her other skins touch.

Worth 1350 RP if you main Soraka. The Death Sworn aesthetic gives her a personality that her kit doesnt usually project. You’re still the enchanter keeping everyone alive, but now you look like you could also take their souls. Been maining Soraka with this skin in ranked this split and the amount of “wait what skin is that” messages I get in champ select tells me most people dont even know it exists. That’s part of the appeal.
