First time I saw Darkrider Sejuani in a loading screen I thought someone was running a custom skin mod. Not because it looked bad, but because I’d literally never seen it before. Been playing since season 3 and I think I ran into this skin maybe four times total across thousands of ranked games. Real talk though, there’s something cool about rocking a skin nobody else uses.

What Darkrider actually changes on Sejuani

So this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, which means you’re not getting new VFX or voice lines. Base VO, no new recall animation. What you do get is a full model swap for both Sejuani and Bristle. The armor goes dark, heavy plate with sharp edges. Bristle gets this armored war boar look thats honestly more intimidating than default.

The color palette shifts to blacks and deep purples. Sejuani herself looks like she rode straight out of the Shadow Isles instead of the Freljord. Her weapon gets a redesign too, darker and more jagged. When you’re charging into a teamfight with W or landing that R on three people in the backline, the darker model reads well against the Rift. Could be wrong here but I feel like the hitbox on her Q feels more visually accurate with this skin’s model, probably just placebo though.

No new particles on the abilities. Your Q dash, W flail, E frost stacks, R ult – all use base Sejuani effects. For a 975 RP skin from early 2012 this is expected. Riot wasnt handing out custom VFX at that price point back then. The skin carries itself on model work alone.

Death Sworn origins and release context

Darkrider Sejuani dropped January 17, 2012. Season 2 era. This was before Sejuani’s visual rework so the original version looked completely different from what you see in the shop now. The skin got updated when Sejuani received her VGU and honestly it came out better for it.

Part of the Death Sworn skinline. The Death Sworn theme pulls champions into this undead knight aesthetic. Sejuani fits it naturally, the whole “mounted warrior charging into battle” fantasy works whether she’s Freljord or death-themed. (Random aside: I keep this skin in my rotation specifically for when I get autofilled jungle because it feels appropriately menacing for ganking bot lane at level 6.)

No splash artist credited in the data. Zero chromas available for Darkrider Sejuani, so what you see is what you get. Shop has it, permanent availability, 975 RP any time you want it.

Should you pick up Darkrider Sejuani?

Honestly not gonna lie, Sejuani has better skins now. Poro Rider exists. Bear Cavalry exists. PROJECT Sejuani exists. If you’re a Sejuani main climbing through ranked and want the best visual experience, those options give you more for your RP.

But Darkrider Sejuani has rarity factor going for it. Nobody runs this. Last Tuesday in my Diamond game our jungler locked in Sejuani with this skin and my duo literally asked “is that a new skin?” It’s from 2012. That kind of obscurity has its own appeal.

975 RP feels fair for what you get. Full model change on champion and mount, dark aesthetic that reads clean in game. Voice pack is base only, no new particles, no recall. Standard tier expectations met. If you’re the type who likes running skins that make people do a double take in champ select, Darkrider delivers on that. Skip it if you need flashy VFX, keep it in mind if you appreciate the Death Sworn vibe and want something different from what every other Sejuani player is using. For one-tricks specifically, having this in rotation adds variety without spending Legendary money.
