First time I saw Hextech Sejuani rotate into the Mythic Essence shop I dropped everything and bought it. No hesitation. Been maining Sejuani on and off since season 7, and the Hextech line is one of those skinlines where Riot actually commits to a concept instead of phoning it in. Bristle covered in crystalline gears and arcane plating, Sejuani herself looking like she raided a Piltover vault. Whole thing just works.

What Hextech Sejuani actually brings to the table

The VFX overhaul is the main selling point here and honestly its the reason this skin stays in my rotation. Every ability gets the turquoise-gold Hextech treatment. Her Q charge leaves this trail of hexagonal particles behind Bristle, almost like shattered crystal forming and dissolving mid-charge. Clean effect. Not too noisy, not too subtle.

W slam has this satisfying burst of clockwork energy on impact. Played maybe 150 games with this skin across two seasons and the W animation still feels crisp to me. The hitbox reads well too, which matters when you’re trying to zone in teamfights. Some skins make ability edges harder to read and thats a real gameplay issue for a frontline engage champ like Sejuani.

E passive stacks show as these little hextech runes orbiting the target. Subtle detail but it helps you track stacks in chaotic fights. When you proc the stun the target gets encased in this crystalline frost effect. Gorgeous. R is where the skin really shines though. The ult projectile is this massive hextech orb trailing golden gears, and the AoE explosion on impact has layers to it. Could be wrong here but I think the ult feels slightly more satisfying to land with this skin. Placebo probably, but still.

Recall animation is custom. Sejuani and Bristle interact with a Hextech device, gears spinning, energy swirling. Standard Mythic-tier recall quality. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected for a Mythic skin. Not a Legendary so nobody should be surprised there.

One thing I noticed last Friday in a ranked game specifically: the auto attack particles have this faint golden shimmer that the base skin obviously lacks. Small touch but it makes jungle clear feel more premium. (Random aside: I use this skin exclusively when I’m trying to hard carry from jungle, superstitious habit at this point.)

The Hextech line and where Sejuani fits

Hextech Sejuani dropped March 5, 2020. Mid season 10. The Hextech skinline at that point already had entries like Hextech Annie and Hextech Kog’Maw, both solid skins. Sejuani fits the aesthetic naturally because the champion already has this heavy armor fantasy going on. Slapping Piltovan crystalline tech onto plate armor and a massive boar just makes sense.

Sean ‘Raiko’ Tay and West Studio handled the artwork. They captured the vibe perfectly. The splash has Sejuani charging forward with Bristle, Hextech energy crackling around them, gears floating in the background. Strong composition.

No chromas on this one. Mythic skins typically dont get chromas, so nothing unexpected there. The base color palette of turquoise and gold is already clean enough that I dont feel like it needs variants.

This is a Mythic tier skin so you’re not buying it for a flat RP price. You need Mythic Essence to pick it up when it rotates into the shop. Hextech crafting only for the most part. Available now through the Mythic shop rotation. If you’ve been sitting on Mythic Essence wondering what to spend it on, Sejuani is a strong candidate. Real talk though, if you don’t play Sejuani regularly, save your essence for a champ you actually lock in.

Sejuani’s skin lineup and where Hextech ranks

Sejuani has a decent skin catalog. Bear Cavalry is the nostalgic pick. Poro Rider is the meme pick. PROJECT Sejuani went for the futuristic angle. Firecracker Sejuani has the Lunar New Year energy. But Hextech Sejuani sits at or near the top for me. Not gonna lie, I keep coming back to this over PROJECT even though PROJECT has more going on technically.

The Hextech aesthetic just reads cleaner on the Rift. In teamfights where there’s spell effects everywhere, the turquoise-gold particles cut through visual noise better than darker skins. Been running this in Diamond since season 11 and I’ve seen maybe 4 other people using it total. Rare skin. That exclusivity factor matters if you care about standing out in champ select.

Kinda feels like Riot put genuine effort into Hextech Sejuani compared to some of the earlier Hextech skins that felt like recolors with sparkles. The model changes are significant. Bristle’s redesign alone justifies the Mythic Essence cost. Full crystalline plating, gear motifs worked into the saddle and armor joints, glowing energy lines running along the boar’s body.

The honest take

Hextech Sejuani is arguably the best Sejuani skin if you value VFX quality and exclusivity. Mythic Essence well spent for mains. The lack of new voice lines keeps it from being perfect, but for a Mythic tier skin with custom VFX and recall, it delivers. Skip it if Sejuani is just a pocket pick you pull out once every 30 games. But if you’re a jungle main who regularly locks in Sejuani for peel and engage comps, this is the one.

Pre-6 ganks with the Q charge particle alone make it worth it. That last ranked session around 1 AM where I went on a five game Sejuani streak, every single engage looked cinematic with Hextech. The skin just hits different when you’re diving the backline at dragon pit and your ult lights up the whole fight in turquoise. S-tier Sejuani cosmetic.
