Been maining Janna on and off since season 2, and Hextech Janna is one of those skins that just quietly sits in your collection. Not flashy. Not trying to impress you. But theres something about the brass and copper aesthetic that reads cleaner than half the newer support skins Riot pumps out every patch cycle.

What Hextech Janna actually changes

So this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, and for that price point you get a full model swap plus updated VFX. Janna trades her usual wind goddess look for a steampunk engineer vibe. Goggles pushed up on her forehead, mechanical staff, the whole Hextech fantasy. The color palette shifts from blues and silvers to warm golds and deep teals.

The VFX are where it gets interesting. Her Q tornado picks up this gear-and-cog particle effect that I think looks better than the base tornado in terms of visual clarity. Not gonna lie, in a chaotic teamfight around dragon pit last week I could track my tornado path way easier with this skin than default. The shield on E has a subtle hextech glow to it. Nothing crazy but enough that your ADC can tell you actually pressed the button.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO, which is expected for a 2010 release at this price. Same Erin Fitzgerald performance you know from default Janna. The recall is also standard, no custom animation. Kinda feels like Riot could have added one in a texture update but they never circled back to it.

Real talk though, the model holds up surprisingly well for a skin thats 15 years old at this point. Played maybe 30 games with it this season in Diamond and nobody in my lobby even clocked it as a legacy skin. They just assumed it was some newer release they missed.

The Hextech line and where Janna fits

Hextech Janna released November 8, 2010. Early League days. The Hextech skinline has grown into something much bigger since then. Hextech Kassadin, Hextech Swain, Hextech Poppy, the crafting exclusives. But Janna was one of the originals in the line, back when Hextech just meant “steampunk with gears” and not “spend 10 gemstones.”

This one sits in the Legacy vault. So you cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. Vault rotation skin, meaning it pops up during special events or you get lucky with Hextech crafting. I rolled mine from a chest back in season 9 I think or 10 dont remember. Either way it felt like a solid pull at the time.

No chromas available. Zero. Which makes sense given the era. Riot wasnt doing chromas in 2010. (Random aside: I genuinely think a dark bronze or oxidized copper chroma for this skin would go hard, but Riot seems to have forgotten this skin exists.)

Should you care about Hextech Janna?

Straight talk: if you’re a Janna main looking for the best possible skin, Star Guardian and Sacred Sword both outclass this in raw content. More particles, custom recalls, the whole package. But those are also more expensive skins from a different era of League design.

Hextech Janna fills a different niche. 975 RP value for a clean, understated look that doesnt scream “I spent money on a support skin.” Could be wrong here but I think the Hextech aesthetic actually suits Janna’s wind magic better than people give it credit for. The mechanical staff channels wind through gears and pipes. Makes the fantasy feel grounded.

Skip this if you want flashy. Lock it in if you appreciate the vintage Hextech vibe and can find it during a vault opening. For Janna one-tricks specifically, it’s a solid rotation piece between your main skin and whatever else you run. Not the best Janna skin full stop, but one that earns its spot. 975 RP feels fair for what you get, especially since you’re really paying for the exclusivity of Legacy at this point. Been daily driving it in bot lane specifically for the past two weeks and I keep coming back.
