First time I saw Sabretusk Sejuani in a loading screen I thought someone was running a custom skin mod. The prehistoric aesthetic just hits so different from her default look that it caught me off guard. Locked it in myself after that game and honestly dont regret the purchase one bit.
The prehistoric makeover
So what actually changes here. Sejuani swaps out her standard Freljord armor for this rough tribal gear, bone plating and fur wraps. Bristle gets a full makeover too – tusks are more prominent, the boar looks genuinely prehistoric. Think sabretooth era. The color palette shifts from icy blue to warm browns and tans with bone-white accents across the armor pieces.
Not gonna lie, for a 975 RP Standard tier skin released back in January 2012, the model work holds up better than you’d expect. The textures show their age in certain angles, especially zoomed in during replays, but in actual gameplay when you’re peeling for your ADC or diving the backline in a teamfight? Reads clean enough.
No new VFX on any abilities. Your Q charge, W flail, E slow, R ult – all base particles. Voice lines stay base too. No recall animation changes either. This is purely a model and texture swap, which was standard for skins at this price point back then. Kinda feels like Riot could have added at least bone-themed particles on the ult but that wasnt really the design philosophy in season 2.
Where Sabretusk fits in the timeline
Released January 17, 2012. That puts this skin firmly in old-school League territory, pre-rework Sejuani even. Izzy Medrano handled the artwork and honestly the splash still carries weight. The composition with Bristle charging forward through what looks like a tundra wasteland, spear raised – solid work for that era.
Sabretusk Sejuani belongs to the Prehistoric Hunters skinline. Same thematic family as Prehistoric Renekton and the other caveman-era skins Riot put out. The line never got massive but it has a cult following. Been playing Sejuani on and off since season 4 I think, and this skin always felt like the underdog pick compared to Bear Cavalry or Poro Rider.
Legacy vault skin. You cant just walk into the shop and buy it whenever you want. Hextech only these days unless Riot opens the vault for a special event. Seen maybe two of these in my Diamond games all season, which honestly adds to the appeal. (Random aside: legacy skins on tanks always feel like a flex because nobody expects the Sejuani main to be a collector.)
Is 975 RP fair for Sabretusk Sejuani?
Real verdict: 975 RP feels fair for what you get, but the value depends entirely on whether you care about rarity. The skin itself is a clean model swap with no extra bells. No chromas available either. If you’re comparing feature-for-feature against modern 975 skins, Sabretusk Sejuani loses that fight.
But here’s the thing. Spammed this in ranked last Tuesday around midnight and got three compliments in post-game chat just because nobody sees it anymore. The Prehistoric Hunters line carries nostalgia weight. If you main Sejuani and want something different from the popular picks, could be wrong here but I think this is one of her more underrated options. Not the best Sejuani skin full stop – Bear Cavalry and Project probably take that crown – but for jungle clear vibes and splitpush rotations where you’re just farming camps between ganking lanes, the prehistoric look grows on you. Worth rolling from chests if it shows up, skip if you’re buying Sejuani skins fresh and have other options available.
