Beast Hunter Draven

First time I saw Beast Hunter Draven in the loading screen I thought someone modded the game. Draven running around the Rift looking like he crawled out of a Monster Hunter cutscene. Not gonna lie, theres something appealing about stripping away all the Noxus flash and just giving the guy bone weapons and animal hides. Played maybe 30 games with this skin back when it dropped in early 2016 and I kept coming back to it for a solid few months.

What Beast Hunter Draven actually changes

So for a 750 RP Standard tier skin, you get more than you’d expect. The axes are the star here. Draven’s spinning axes become these jagged bone cleavers that look like someone ripped a tooth out of Baron and strapped it to a handle. The new VFX on the axes give them a slightly different trail when they spin, and catching them in lane feels weirdly satisfying with the prehistoric look.

His outfit trades the usual Draven swagger for fur pelts and leather straps. Could be wrong here but I think the shoulder pieces are supposed to be raptor skulls or something. The whole silhouette reads differently in teamfights. Voice lines stay base, which honestly makes it funnier. Draven talking about how great he is while dressed like a caveman. No new recall animation either, standard Draven stuff.

The Q particles specifically caught my eye. When you’re catching axes in bot lane and kiting back during a gank, those bone axes just pop against the Summoner’s Rift green. One ranked game last season around midnight my support pinged my axes three times thinking they were a new ability. That’s how different they look from base Draven.

The Prehistoric Hunters line and release details

Beast Hunter Draven is part of the Prehistoric Hunters skinline. Riot released it February 4, 2016. The Prehistoric Hunters set was one of those quieter drops that didnt get a huge event or anything. Sejuani got one too. The whole line imagines champions as primitive hunters taking down massive creatures, which fits Draven’s ego perfectly. He’d absolutely claim he solo killed a dinosaur.

Victor ‘3rdColossus’ Maury handled the artwork on the splash. They captured the vibe perfectly. Draven mid-throw with some giant beast in the background, classic action pose. The splash honestly oversells the skin a little (sidebar: I used this splash as my Discord avatar for like two months straight because the composition is that good). No chromas available for this one, which is a shame because a darker color variant would slap.

750 RP price point. Shop has it, permanent availability. For context thats cheaper than most skins Draven has gotten since. Season 6 release if I remember right, maybe early into the year. The Prehistoric Hunters line never got expanded much after the initial batch which is kind of a waste.

Should you pick up Beast Hunter Draven?

Real verdict: this is a solid budget Draven skin. Best value-per-RP in his catalog if you ask me. The bone axes alone make it worth locking in. Compared to something like Gladiator Draven at the same price range, Beast Hunter has more personality. Gladiator is clean but forgettable. Beast Hunter commits to the bit.

Now if you’re an ADC main climbing through ranked and you want the flashiest Draven skin, this isnt it. Mecha Kingdoms and Fright Night both outclass it for raw visual impact. But 750 RP feels fair for what you get. Kinda feels like Riot underpriced this one considering the VFX work. Been running this in Diamond games and nobody flames me for using a “cheap skin” because it genuinely looks good in motion.

Skip this if you already own Fright Night or La Ilusión. But if you’re building a Draven collection or you main him and want variety in your skin rotation, Beast Hunter Draven earns its spot. Simple change – huge impact on how the champion feels in game. Worth 750 RP if you main Draven, no question.
