Been maining Soraka on and off since season 3, and Dryad Soraka is one of those skins that just quietly sits in your collection doing its job. No flash. No crazy particles. Just a clean nature-themed look on a champion who already feels like she belongs in the forest. First time I saw it in loading screen I thought someone was running base Soraka with a weird color shift, but in-game it reads way better than the splash suggests.
What Dryad Soraka actually changes
So this is a Standard tier skin at 520 RP, and for that price you get a full model swap with some subtle VFX tweaks. Soraka trades her usual celestial purple aesthetic for earthy greens and browns. Kinda feels like she wandered out of the Elderwood skinline’s forest and decided to heal people instead of casting curses. The staff gets a wooden, vine-wrapped redesign that fits the druid fantasy pretty well.
The VFX have a slight green tint to them. Her Q landing zone picks up that forest color, and her W heal has a softer warmth compared to base. Not gonna lie, in a messy teamfight you probably wont notice the difference. But laning phase? Poking with Q in bot lane specifically, the green starcall blends into the Rift grass in a way that might actually give you a tiny edge. Could be wrong here but I swear people dodge it less with this skin on.
Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either. You press B and get the standard Soraka channel. For 520 RP thats expected, and honestly I’d rather Riot keep the price low than tack on a mediocre recall nobody asked for.
The Elderwood connection and release history
Dryad Soraka dropped June 3, 2010. Early League. Season one territory. The Elderwood skinline wasnt even formally a thing back then, Riot kind of retroactively grouped it in. Makes sense though. The whole dryad concept is pure forest spirit energy, and the Elderwood line leans hard into that mythical woods vibe.
(Random aside: this skin is older than most of my ranked teammates and that thought keeps me up at night.)
No splash artist credited in the data, which tracks for skins from that era. Riot’s art pipeline in 2010 was a different beast. The splash itself looks dated compared to modern standards, but there’s a charm to it. Simple composition, Soraka standing in a grove, staff raised. Season 1 energy through and through.
Shop has it. Permanent availability, 520 RP. No chromas attached to this one. Real talk though, at that price point you’re paying less than a single chroma costs on newer skins. Hard to complain about value.
Should you pick up Dryad Soraka?
Straight talk: if you’re a Soraka main climbing through ranked and you want something different from base without dropping serious RP, Dryad gets the job done. Played maybe 200 games with this skin across multiple seasons and it never bothered me. The green color scheme is easy on the eyes during long sessions. Last Tuesday around 2 AM I was grinding Diamond games and the muted tones actually helped me focus compared to flashier skins.
But if you’re looking for the best Soraka skin? Star Guardian and Celestine both exist. Dawnbringer exists. Those skins have new particles, new recalls, the whole package. Dryad is the budget pick for people who want a nature vibe without the price tag. 520 RP feels fair for what you get. Skip it if you already own any of her Epic or Legendary options, grab it if you’re building out the collection or you just like the earthy look. Simple change – solid skin.
