Immortal Journey Soraka

First game I played with Immortal Journey Soraka was around 1 AM on a Wednesday, fresh off the patch drop in August 2023. Locked her in for a Diamond ranked game without even previewing the skin in collection. Risky move. Paid off immediately. The loading screen splash alone had my ADC typing “ok that skin is clean” before minions even spawned. Not gonna lie, thats the kind of energy you want from a Legendary.

How Immortal Journey Soraka plays and feels

This is a full Legendary package and it earns that label. New model, new VFX on every ability, new voice lines performed by Lisa Lindsley, new recall animation. The whole deal. Soraka floats across the Rift in this celestial immortal aesthetic, robes trailing with golden light particles that pulse when she moves. Beautiful in lane, beautiful in teamfights.

Her Q lands with this spreading golden burst that reads so much cleaner than base Soraka. You can actually track the center of the hitbox better, which sounds like a minor thing but after 50+ games with this skin I swear my Q accuracy went up. Could be wrong here but the particle clarity just feels sharper. The W heal has these flowing golden ribbons connecting you to your carry, and the visual feedback on the health transfer is satisfying every single time. Been running this as my only Soraka skin since it dropped.

E is where it gets interesting. The Equinox zone has this intricate mandala pattern on the ground with characters that look like celestial script. Enemies standing in it get these golden chains snaking up their model before the root procs. Had a game last season where I dropped E behind dragon pit during a teamfight and their Katarina walked right into it. The root animation is so visually distinct that even my jungler pinged “nice” which, if you play support in Diamond, you know that never happens.

The ult though. Wish. Golden light rains down across the entire map with these falling petals and celestial symbols. The camera doesnt shift or anything dramatic like some Ultimates, but the particle work across the whole Rift is genuinely impressive. Your teammates get bathed in this warm golden glow. Late-game when your R is healing the entire backline during a messy 5v5, the visual payoff is massive.

Recall animation has Soraka ascending on this cloud platform with scrolls and celestial energy swirling around her. Clean. Not the flashiest recall in the game but it fits the theme perfectly without being obnoxious about it.

The Immortal Journey line and release context

Immortal Journey dropped August 16, 2023. Mid-season 13. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen nailed the splash, the composition with Soraka floating above clouds with that staff radiating golden energy is phone wallpaper material. (Random aside: I actually did set it as my lock screen for like two months.)

The Immortal Journey skinline pulls from Chinese mythology and wuxia fantasy. Soraka fits this line better than most champions in the set, honestly. The celestial healer archetype maps perfectly onto the immortal sage aesthetic. Feels like the skin was designed around this concept rather than forced into it, which I think is what separates the good skinline entries from the forgettable ones.

6 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to because the dark tones against the golden VFX create this contrast that pops hard on the Rift. Tanzanite runs a close second with the deep purple shifting the whole vibe toward something more mystical. Rose Quartz exists for the pink skin collectors and honestly it works fine but I keep coming back to Obsidian. The rest are solid but those two stand out.

Voice lines and personality

Real talk though, the new VO carries weight here. Lisa Lindsley’s performance gives Immortal Journey Soraka this calm authority that base Soraka lacks. She sounds like someone who has watched civilizations rise and fall and still chooses to heal. Lines reference the Immortal Journey lore with mentions of celestial trials and ascending beyond mortality. There’s depth here that makes laning feel different. Not just mechanically but atmospherically.

Specific interactions with other Immortal Journey skins exist too. Played a game with an Immortal Journey Zed on the enemy team and Soraka had unique lines for him. Small detail. Matters more than you’d think for immersion during lane phase.

Might be overthinking it but the voice filter or lack of one works in the skin’s favor. Clean vocal delivery, no heavy processing. Just good acting with good writing. Been playing support for years and voice lines matter when you’re hearing them 30+ minutes per game.

Should you buy Immortal Journey Soraka?

Straight talk: if you main Soraka or play her regularly in ranked, this is the skin. Star Guardian is great. Dawnbringer has fans. But Immortal Journey is the complete Legendary experience with VFX clarity that arguably improves gameplay readability on Q and E. 1820 RP well spent for mains.

If you’re a casual Soraka player who picks her maybe once every 20 games, maybe wait for a sale. Full Legendary price is a commitment for a champion you dont play often. But for Soraka one-tricks and support mains who have her in regular rotation, this is S-tier. The Immortal Journey fantasy, the VFX quality, the voice work – it all comes together. Top pick for Soraka mains, no question. Kinda feels like Riot designed this skin knowing exactly what the Soraka community wanted and just delivered on every front.
