Space Groove Taric

First game I loaded into with Space Groove Taric, my ADC typed “disco Taric is back” in chat. Honestly not gonna lie, that reaction tracks. The skin leans full retro funk, all sparkle and groove, and on a champion who already walks around like he owns every pixel of the Rift it just works. Played maybe 40 games with this one since it dropped late 2022, and the vibe hasnt worn off.

What Space Groove Taric actually brings

So Taric’s base kit already has this crystalline elegance thing going on. Space Groove flips the palette into disco purples, hot pinks, and turquoise. The gems on his armor pulse with this rhythmic glow that syncs loosely with ability casts. Not sure if it’s just me but it feels like the passive auto attacks have a tiny bit more visual punch here than base.

Q heal has these funky star particles floating outward. Clean read in teamfights, which matters when you’re trying to peel for your backline and need to see exactly when the heal procs. W connection beam gets the disco treatment too – sparkly tether that reads well against dark Rift terrain. Huge for tracking your bond target during chaotic engages.

E stun is where the VFX upgrade really shows. The stun zone gets these groovy light trails, almost like a dance floor lighting up under enemy feet. Been running this in Diamond support games and I can confirm the E hitbox visual matches the actual stun zone better than some of his older skins. Could be wrong here but the particles seem slightly more forgiving on readability.

R invulnerability is solid. Big disco ball energy on the ult cast. The delay before invuln kicks in has this building crescendo of particle effects that actually helps your team understand when the window opens. Base voice lines, no changes on the VO side. The recall animation though? Chef’s kiss. Taric hits a full disco pose sequence. Worth the price of admission honestly.

The Space Groove line and release context

Space Groove Taric dropped November 17, 2022. Late into season 12. Silvia Meiliani and Caravan Studio handled the splash, and they captured the disco fantasy perfectly – Taric mid-pose with this cosmic dance floor behind him. Banger splash.

The Space Groove skinline is one of Riot’s more fun thematic choices. You got Lulu, Nasus, Blitzcrank, Samira all in the line. Taric fits Space Groove naturally because the champion already has that larger-than-life fabulous energy. (Random aside: my duo partner set this splash as his Discord profile pic for like three months straight.)

8 chromas total. Obsidian goes dark and moody which feels weird on a disco skin but some people are into that contrast. Rainbow is the standout for me, leans into the full spectrum vibe that Space Groove should be about. Sapphire runs a deep blue that reads almost royal – kinda feels like it belongs in a different skinline entirely but I keep coming back to it in ranked.

Should you grab Space Groove Taric?

Real verdict: if you play Taric at all, this is a strong pickup. The VFX upgrades on E and R specifically give you better visual clarity in lane and teamfights. That matters when you’re trying to time a clutch ult on your diving Jarvan or peeling a Katarina off your ADC at dragon pit last Wednesday around midnight.

Taric’s skin catalog is small. Pool Party is the meme pick, Luminshield is clean but safe, and Bloodstone feels dated. Space Groove sits comfortably as his best Epic option. Top pick for Taric mains. The disco theme could feel gimmicky on other champions but Taric’s whole identity is being extra, so it lands.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across the kit, a recall animation that’ll make your lane partner laugh, and chromas if you want variety. Been daily driving this over Luminshield for two seasons now. Only thing missing is new voice lines, but thats standard for the Epic tier. Taric one-tricks, you already know. Everyone else – if you’re picking up Taric for the support pool this season, lock in Space Groove and dont look back.
