First time I saw Pool Party Taric load in, I thought someone was trolling my ranked lobby. Lifeguard Taric with a rescue board as a shield. Took me maybe two games to realize this skin is legit one of the best support cosmetics from that entire summer event. Been running this as my default Taric skin since season 8 and honestly havent looked back once. The whole vibe just works.
What Pool Party Taric actually brings to the Rift
So the model swap is the main draw here. Taric trades his crystal armor for lifeguard shorts, a whistle, sandals, and a surfboard shield. The gems on his base skin get replaced with water-themed crystals that read surprisingly clean in teamfights. Not gonna lie, the surfboard bash on his auto attacks is one of those small details that makes laning phase more fun than it has any right to be.
The VFX overhaul is where this Epic really earns its keep. His Q heal pulses out with water splashes instead of the standard crystal glow. W links between you and your carry with a subtle aqua tether. E stun sends out a wave of water in the direction you cast it, and the hitbox feels visually clearer than base Taric’s E. Could be wrong here but I think the water particles actually help my ADC dodge my stun less in lane because they see the wave coming and panic flash into it. Happened three times last week in Diamond.
His R is the highlight though. Cosmic Radiance pops with a massive pool splash effect around everyone in range. The invulnerability frames get this tropical water dome visual that looks clean in a 5v5 engage. I ulted our whole backline during a dragon fight last Tuesday and the water explosion layered over the pit looked incredible. Pure chaos but readable chaos.
The recall animation is top tier for a 1350 skin. Taric sets up a beach umbrella and lounges back. Simple concept, perfect execution. (Random aside: I leave the recall animation playing in fountain just to flex on my jungler when they’re tilted.) Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is fine because Yuri Lowenthal’s original performance still holds up.
The Pool Party line and where this skin fits
Pool Party dropped July 13, 2016. Right in the middle of summer, which tracks. Christian Fell handled the artwork and the splash captures that beach lifeguard energy perfectly. Taric standing confident with waves behind him. Strong composition.
The Pool Party skinline is one of Riot’s most consistent series. Taric fits the theme naturally because his whole kit revolves around protecting people, and the lifeguard angle plays into that fantasy without feeling forced. Compared to some of the other Pool Party skins from that year, Taric’s stands out because the gameplay read stays clean. Some Pool Party skins sacrifice clarity for theme. This one doesnt.
4 chromas available for Pool Party Taric. Obsidian turns the whole outfit dark with black shorts and a midnight surfboard, which is kinda hilarious for a lifeguard. Rose Quartz shifts everything pink and feels like the most popular one I see in my games. Pearl goes white and gold, clean but maybe too subtle. Catseye pushes into yellow territory. Obsidian is my pick, the contrast against the water VFX hits different.
Is Pool Party Taric worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: if you play Taric even semi-regularly, this is the skin. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, full VFX overhaul, solid recall animation. The only thing missing is new voice lines but thats standard for the Epic tier.
Grinded ranked with this skin for maybe 150 games across two seasons and the novelty still hasnt worn off. The water effects on E specifically make the stun feel more satisfying to land. Might be overthinking it but I swear I peel better with this skin equipped. Shop has it permanently so no rush, but if you main Taric or play him as a pocket pick for when your team needs engage and peel, this is the one to grab. Taric Luminshield and Space Groove exist but Pool Party Taric remains the cleanest option for the price. S-tier Taric cosmetic, been saying it for years and I stand by it.
