Space Groove Samira

First game I played with Space Groove Samira I got a pentakill in a late-game teamfight near baron pit. Coincidence? Probably. But the skin just feels right on her. The disco energy, the colors popping off during her passive stacks, the way the whole kit flows together when you’re styling on the enemy backline. Locked this in around midnight the day it dropped and havent looked back since.

How Space Groove changes Samira’s kit

The VFX rework here is solid for an Epic tier skin. Samira’s Q projectile gets this retro purple-pink trail that reads cleanly in lane, which matters when you’re poking through minion waves. Her W windwall spins with these funky disco particles. Clean stuff.

Not gonna lie, the real highlight is the ult. When you pop Inferno Trigger the whole screen lights up with Space Groove particle effects and it looks ridiculous in the best way. Been running this in Diamond for a few seasons now and the ult VFX still catch my eye every time. The recall animation fits the disco theme perfectly too, Samira basically hits a dance routine before heading back to base.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Kinda feels like Riot could have added a voice filter at least for 1350 RP but the visual package carries it. The model itself swaps Samira into this purple-and-gold disco outfit with platform boots. (Random aside: my duo partner calls it the “Saturday Night Fever Samira” and honestly that tracks.) The hair is wild, big and curly, totally different silhouette from her default look.

One thing I noticed around 30 games in – the passive style meter has subtle color shifts matching the Space Groove palette. Small detail but it makes tracking your combo grade feel more satisfying when you’re diving the enemy ADC under tower.

The Space Groove line and release context

Space Groove Samira released April 1, 2021. Season 11. Xiao Guang Sun and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on this one. The splash captures the whole disco-in-space vibe with Samira looking confident as ever.

The Space Groove skinline is one of Riot’s more creative theme drops. Think retro-futuristic dance party across the cosmos. Samira fits the line naturally because her whole kit is about style and flair. Compare that to some Space Groove picks where the champion feels forced into the theme.

9 chromas total. That’s a lot of options. Obsidian goes full dark mode which honestly looks cleaner than base in certain comps where you dont want to be a neon target. Pearl gives this ethereal white-gold look that’s probably the most popular one I see in my games. Disco chroma leans into the teal-and-purple combo and might be the most on-theme of the bunch. Could be wrong here but I think Rainbow was an event exclusive, seen maybe 2 of those in ranked all season.

Worth the 1350 RP?

Verdict time. Space Groove Samira competes with High Noon and PsyOps in Samira’s skin pool. High Noon is the flashier option for sure, more Wild West gunslinger energy. PsyOps was her launch skin and feels a bit generic by comparison now.

Space Groove sits in this sweet spot where the theme is unique enough to stand out but the VFX dont distract from gameplay. I played maybe 15 games last Tuesday switching between all three skins and kept coming back to Space Groove for the ult visuals alone. The disco particles during Inferno Trigger just hit different in a chaotic teamfight around dragon pit.

If you main Samira and want something that feels fun without being over the top, this is it. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across the full kit, solid recall animation, strong model redesign, and 9 chromas if you want variety. Not the best Samira skin full stop, that’s probably High Noon, but it’s a strong second pick and arguably more fun to look at game after game.

Skip it if you already own High Noon and only play Samira occasionally. Worth it if she’s in your ranked rotation and you want a skin that matches the champion’s personality. Played this for six months straight in season 12 I think and the novelty never wore off. Good sign.
