Lumberjack Sion

First time I loaded into a game with Lumberjack Sion, my duo asked me if I was trolling. Fair enough. Sion shows up to the Rift wearing a flannel shirt and carrying an axe like he’s about to chop firewood instead of champions. Honestly not gonna lie, thats exactly why I bought it. Something about a massive undead juggernaut dressed for a weekend at a cabin just hits different.

What Lumberjack Sion actually looks like in game

This is a Standard tier skin at 520 RP, so set expectations accordingly. No new VFX on the abilities, no recall animation, voice stays default. What you get is a full model swap and honestly for the price it works. Sion trades his usual war armor for a red plaid flannel, suspenders, and work boots. The axe becomes a woodcutting axe. Clean swap.

In teamfights the flannel reads surprisingly well. Could be wrong here but I think the red pops more against the Rift terrain than some of his darker skins. His Q charge-up with a lumberjack axe overhead looks ridiculous in the best way possible. When you’re channeling that thing in a bush near dragon pit and the enemy ADC face-checks, the comedic timing writes itself.

No new particles on the W shield, E shout, or R charge. Standard voice lines, no changes. The ult is still Sion running at full speed screaming, except now he’s a lumberjack doing it. Played maybe 30 games with this skin last season around October and the R into bot lane never stopped being funny. The model does the heavy lifting here. Simple change – huge impact on the vibe.

The Day Job line and some history

Lumberjack Sion dropped January 24, 2011. Ancient by League standards. This was pre-rework Sion, the old point-and-click stun zombie version. The skin survived the full visual update and honestly came out looking better for it. Christian Fell did the splash, they captured the vibe perfectly. Sion standing in a forest with his axe, looking like he wandered off a maple syrup label.

Part of the Day Job skinline which is one of Riot’s goofier concepts. Champions just having regular jobs. No chromas available for this one which tracks given the age and price point. 520 RP is about as cheap as skins get these days.

Been running this in Diamond when I want to tilt the enemy top laner psychologically. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about dying to a lumberjack that feels worse than dying to Mecha Zero Sion. (Random aside: a friend of mine refuses to play against this skin because he says the axe sound on Q auto-attacks is louder than base, which I’m 90% sure is placebo but he wont budge on it.)

Should you pick up Lumberjack Sion?

Real verdict: for 520 RP this is one of the better budget skins in the game. You’re not getting new particles or voice lines. You know that going in. What you get is a complete visual identity shift that makes Sion look like he’s about to ask if you have a permit for that tower. Shop has it, permanent availability.

If you main Sion and you’re building a collection, this is an easy grab. I keep coming back to this skin specifically in normals and flex queue when the mood is right. Last Tuesday around 2 AM in a flex game I ulted from mid lane into a full enemy team at baron and my Kayn pinged me alive for a solid ten seconds. Worth it every time in Lumberjack.

Sion has flashier options for sure. Mecha Zero exists, Blackfrost exists. But those cost three to four times as much. Lumberjack Sion is the budget king. 520 RP feels fair for what you get. If you want a skin that makes people smile in champ select and costs less than a chroma for other champions, lock this in. Top pick for Sion mains who dont take themselves too seriously and just want to splitpush top lane looking like a Canadian folk hero.
