Epic

All Epic Skins in League of Legends

Epic is the tier where most players actually live. Not the flashy Legendary stuff you see in skin spotlights, not the budget 520 RP recolors you forget exist. Epic sits right at 1350 RP and covers 966 skins across 171 champions, which means almost every champ in the game has at least one solid Epic option. Been playing ranked in Diamond for years now and I'd say 80% of the skins I see in lobby are Epics. They hit that sweet spot where you get real visual changes without dropping 20 bucks on a single cosmetic. Kinda feels like Riot designed this tier specifically to be the default purchase.

What You Actually Get at Epic Tier

So here's what 1350 RP buys you in practice. New model, new VFX on abilities, new recall animation. Out of 966 Epic skins, roughly 889 have updated visual effects and 875 come with a unique recall. Thats a pretty high hit rate. Voice lines stay base on almost all of them though, only 2 Epics in the entire catalog got new VO. Which honestly makes sense because full voice recording is what separates Legendary from everything below it.

The model changes range from "okay cool, different outfit" to "this looks like a completely different champion." Take Infernal Galio for example. Dude goes from stone gargoyle to literal fire demon. The Q hits the ground and everything lights up orange. Compare that to some of the older Epics from season 3 or 4 where "new model" meant they changed the color palette and called it a day.

Real talk though. The VFX quality on modern Epics has been creeping upward since around 2019. Skins releasing in 2024 and 2025 at 1350 RP would have been Legendary-tier five years ago. Riot keeps raising the bar, which is great for buyers but makes the older Epics feel rough by comparison. Played a game last week with a 2014 Epic and the particles looked like they belonged in a mobile game next to the enemy's 2024 skin.

Recall animations are where Epics get creative. Some are forgettable, sure. But others tell mini stories or reference the skinline lore in ways that actually make you want to sit in base for 8 seconds instead of canceling. The Super Galaxy Annie recall where Tibbers transforms? Chef's kiss. That one sold me on the skin more than any ability VFX did.

No new voice lines means your champion still sounds like default when they taunt or joke. For some champs this is fine. For others it breaks the fantasy completely. You're running around as this cosmic dragon knight or whatever and then your champ says the same corny joke from 2012. Might be overthinking it but it does pull you out of the skin sometimes, especially on champs with outdated base VO.

Best Epic Skins Worth Your RP

Picking favorites out of 966 skins is ridiculous but here goes. These are the ones I keep coming back to in my own collection or the ones that make me go "nice skin" when I see them in champ select.

Blood Moon Twisted Fate. This skin single-handedly made me learn TF back in season 9 I think or 10 dont remember. The card particles have that red ink wash effect and the recall has him doing the demon mask reveal. For 1350 RP on a champion who's been relevant in every meta since the game launched, this is an easy recommend. Been running this in ranked whenever I get filled mid and need a safe pick.

Super Galaxy Annie is wild. The mecha Tibbers, the sci-fi VFX on every ability, the recall transformation. It feels like playing a different game. Annie mains specifically know what I'm talking about because most Annie skins are just "Annie but in a different costume" and this one actually reimagines the entire kit visually. (Random aside: I gifted this to my support duo partner and she has like 400 games on it now.)

Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao. Clean. Xin already has smooth animations and this skin just elevates them. The jade green particles on the Q hits feel crisp. Not flashy, not overdesigned. Just good. Top pick for Xin mains who want something that reads well in teamfights without visual clutter messing up your spacing. Spammed this in Diamond during the Xin meta around patch 12.10 and never felt like I needed anything fancier.

Infernal Galio deserves a mention because it transforms one of the most boring base models in the game into something that actually looks threatening. The fire effects on his abilities, especially the W channel and the ult landing, are satisfying every single time. Could be wrong here but I think this might be the best value Epic in the game for how much it changes the champion's presence on screen.

SKT T1 Olaf is a different kind of pick. Esports skins aren't for everyone. But if you watched Faker's team win Worlds and you play Olaf, there's something cool about locking in a skin that references competitive history. The effects are solid, nothing groundbreaking, but the esports connection adds context that a random skinline cant replicate.

Price and Value at 1350 RP

Let's talk money. 1350 RP costs roughly $10 USD depending on what RP bundle you buy. Some Epics technically sit at 975 RP, the older ones from before Riot standardized pricing, but those also come with fewer features. The 1350 price point is where the tier lives now.

Compared to Legendary at 1820 RP, you're saving about $5 per skin and losing voice lines plus some animation polish. Compared to Standard tier below, you're paying maybe $3-4 more and gaining VFX, recall, and a much better model. The jump from Standard to Epic is the biggest quality leap in the entire skin system. Not sure if it's just me but going from a 750 RP skin to a 1350 RP skin feels like upgrading your entire champion. Going from 1350 to 1820? Diminishing returns unless the VO really matters to you.

Sales happen. Epics rotate through the weekly sale at 675 RP which is genuinely a steal. Your Shop gives personalized discounts too, usually 20-40% off. Grinded ranked with Blood Moon TF and bought it at 30% off in My Shop back around February 2024. No regrets. If you're patient, you can build a solid Epic collection without going broke.

(Sidebar: I've spent way too much on this game over the years and if I could go back I'd tell myself to just wait for sales on Epics instead of impulse buying every release. Would have saved probably $200.)

The value calculation changes if you're a one-trick versus a fill player. One-tricks who play 500 games a season on one champion should probably just buy the Legendary. You'll see that skin thousands of times. But if you play 15 different champs across roles? Epic tier is where your money goes furthest. Lock in a 1350 skin for each of your mains and you're set.

Who Should Buy Epic Skins

Pretty much everyone. Thats the honest answer.

If you main a champion and play them at least once a week in ranked, an Epic skin is the baseline investment. You get meaningful visual changes, you feel different in lane, and 1350 RP won't destroy your wallet. For climbing in solo queue, having a skin you actually enjoy looking at matters more than people admit. Last Tuesday around 2 AM I was tilted from a loss streak, switched to my favorite Epic skin, and the mental reset was real.

Collectors obviously need Epics because they make up the bulk of every champion's skin catalog. 966 skins is a lot of ground to cover. Budget collectors should target sale rotations and My Shop discounts. Not gonna lie, the collector grind for Epics alone could take years.

New players learning a champion should grab one Epic before buying anything fancier. Learn the champ's kit with clean updated VFX and decide if you even enjoy them before dropping Legendary money. Seen too many people buy a 1820 skin for a champ they play for two weeks then never touch again. Start Epic. Upgrade later if you stick with it.

The only players who can skip Epics entirely are the ones who already own a Legendary or Ultimate for their main and literally never play anything else. Even then, having an Epic as a rotation option keeps things fresh. Been daily driving the same Legendary for 6 months straight and sometimes you just want a different look for a few games.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Epic skins are in LoL?

966 Epic skins as of 2026, covering 171 champions. It's the biggest tier by far. Riot drops new Epics almost every patch cycle so this number keeps climbing. Been tracking it loosely since season 11 and the count has basically doubled.

How much do Epic skins cost?

Most Epic skins cost 1350 RP, which runs about $10 USD. Some older ones sit at 975 RP with fewer features. Sales drop them to 675 RP and My Shop can go even lower. Honestly 675 RP for an Epic is a no-brainer if it's a champ you play.

What features do Epic skins have?

New model, new VFX on abilities, and a unique recall animation. Almost 90% of Epics have updated particles. Voice lines stay base though, only 2 out of 966 Epics got new VO. Think of it as a visual overhaul without the audio upgrade that Legendaries get.

Are Epic skins worth the price?

For mains, absolutely. The visual upgrade from base or Standard tier is massive at 1350 RP. Could be wrong here but I think Epic is the best value tier in the game. You get 80% of the Legendary experience for about 60% of the cost. Wait for sales if you're on a budget.

What is the best Epic skin?

Subjective, but Blood Moon Twisted Fate and Super Galaxy Annie are up there. Both completely transform their champion's visual identity. For pure value, look at newer releases from 2023-2025 since Riot's been pushing Epic quality higher every year. Hard to pick just one out of 966.

Do Epic skins go on sale?

Yes. Weekly sales rotate Epics to 675 RP regularly. My Shop appears a few times a year with personalized discounts, usually 20-40% off. There's also the Essence Emporium and event shops. Patience pays off here, spammed sales for months to build my collection cheaply.

What is the difference between Epic and Legendary skins?

Legendary skins cost 1820 RP and include new voice lines, new animations, and often new idle poses. Epics at 1350 RP get new models and VFX but keep base voice and animations. The VO difference is the big one. Legendaries feel like a new champion, Epics feel like a premium reskin.

How do I get Epic skins?

Buy them directly from the in-client shop with RP. You can also get them from Hextech chests, event orbs, rerolling skin shards, or through loot drops. Most Epics are permanently available. Some are Legacy or event-locked, meaning you gotta wait for them to rotate back or get lucky with crafting.
