First time I saw Arcane Firelight Ekko in the loading screen I literally thought it was a Legendary. The splash alone had me convinced Riot dropped something bigger than a 1350 RP skin. Been running this in Diamond since it dropped and the amount of compliments I get in champ select is kinda ridiculous for an Epic tier cosmetic. Not gonna lie, the Arcane tie-in skins hit different when the show was still fresh in everyone’s mind.
What Arcane Firelight Ekko actually changes
The model redesign pulls straight from Act 3 of Arcane. Ekko’s got the Firelights mask, the hoverboard elements on the recall, the whole underground rebel aesthetic. His bat-weapon looks rougher, more improvised. Fits the Zaun scrapyard vibe perfectly.
VFX are where this skin earns its price. Q throws out these green-tinted particles that trail across the lane with a sort of bioluminescent glow. W zone has the Firelights emblem faintly visible if you look closely, which is a nice touch for anyone who watched the show. Could be wrong here but I think the E blink leaves behind moth-wing particles for a split second. Hard to catch in a teamfight but in practice tool its there.
R is clean. The rewind effect keeps the green theme consistent and the afterimage looks more spectral than base Ekko’s blue trail. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and the ult always felt satisfying to land. One ranked game around 1 AM I dove their backline at dragon, ulted back out with a triple, and my support typed “that skin makes ult look cinematic.” Fair point honestly.
The recall animation is the highlight for me. Ekko hops on his hoverboard, does the Firelights salute. Short and punchy. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the existing lines still work because Antony Del Rio’s performance carries regardless of the skin.
The Arcane line and where this fits
Released February 17, 2022. Right in the middle of Arcane hype season. Pan Chengwei nailed the splash, the lighting on Ekko’s mask catches that green glow against the Zaun undercity backdrop. One of the better splash compositions for Ekko period.
The Arcane skinline was Riot’s smartest marketing play in years. Tying skins directly to the Netflix show meant even people who dont play League knew what these looked like. Arcane Firelight Ekko sits alongside Arcane Enforcer Caitlyn and Arcane Inventor Jayce in the lineup, but I think Ekko got the best treatment of the bunch. (Random aside: my roommate who never touched League bought this skin after binging Arcane in two days.)
8 chromas total. Obsidian turns the whole palette dark which makes the green particles pop harder against the model. Tanzanite swaps into deep purple territory and honestly reads like a completely different skin. Pearl is the safe pick if you want something cleaner. I keep rotating between Obsidian and the base depending on mood.
Is 1350 RP worth it for Firelight Ekko?
Real verdict: this is the Ekko skin for anyone who watched Arcane. Simple as that. If you main Ekko and you care about thematic consistency between the show and your ranked games, theres no competition here. Star Guardian Ekko is flashier. PROJECT Ekko has more going on technically. But Arcane Firelight Ekko has something neither of those have – it feels like a character moment, not just a cosmetic.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, a solid recall, strong model redesign. Been maining Ekko with this skin through two full seasons of climbing and I keep coming back to it over the alternatives. Kinda feels like Riot knew the Arcane tie-in would sell itself so they actually put in the work instead of phoning it in.
Skip it if you have zero connection to the show. Grab it in the shop if you do. For Ekko one-tricks specifically, this belongs in your rotation next to TRUE DAMAGE and Pulsefire. Season 12 release that still holds up. Top pick for Ekko mains who want that Zaun rebel energy in their solo queue games without dropping Legendary money.
