Victorious Tryndamere

Honestly not gonna lie, when Riot announced Tryndamere as the Season 2024 Victorious skin I had to double check. Tryndamere. The right-click champion. Getting the ranked reward treatment. Been playing this game since season 4 and I still get surprised by these picks. But after locking it in for maybe 40 games in Diamond, the skin grew on me harder than I expected.

What Victorious Tryndamere actually looks like in game

The Victorious line always goes heavy on gold and blue armor plating, and Tryndamere fits that mold. His sword gets this ornate golden blade treatment that catches light during his E spin. Base voice lines stay the same, no new VO here. But the new VFX carry the skin. His Q heal has this regal golden burst that reads way cleaner than default, and the W debuff aura gets a nice blue shimmer.

The recall animation is solid. Tryndamere plants his sword and this Victorious crest materializes around him. Not the flashiest recall in the game but it fits the theme. Kinda feels like they put more effort into this one than some of the older Victorious skins. (Random sidebar: the recall actually looks better with the Diamond chroma than base, something about the purple tones against the crest animation.)

His R is where it matters most for Tryndamere mains and the undying rage VFX got a proper golden overhaul. Last Tuesday I dove a Jinx under tier 2 tower with ult and the golden particle explosion on activation just hits different compared to default. Could be wrong here but I think the ult VFX alone makes this worth grinding ranked for.

The Victorious line and how you get it

Pandart Studio handled the artwork and they captured the regal warrior fantasy well. Released March 20, 2024 as the split ranked reward. Standard Victorious distribution: you needed to hit Gold or above during the ranked split to unlock it. No RP price tag on this one, its a pure ranked reward.

The Victorious skinline goes back to Jarvan IV in season 1. Each year Riot picks a champion that defined the competitive meta. Tryndamere was terrorizing solo queue with the lethal tempo changes around that time, splitpushing teams into mental boom. Made sense for the pick even if nobody was hyped about it initially.

9 chromas total, one for each rank tier. Diamond chroma is my go-to obviously, the deep purple armor plating looks clean against the Rift. Challenger chroma goes blue and gold which honestly looks closest to the base Victorious palette. Master chroma has this magenta accent that’s polarizing, you either love it or think it looks like a rejected Star Guardian concept. Vault skin now so if you missed the ranked split, hextech only these days.

Should you care about Victorious Tryndamere?

Real verdict: for a free ranked reward, this is above average. The VFX work on Q and R alone puts it ahead of some 975 RP shop skins. Spammed this in Diamond for about two months straight after unlock and never felt the urge to swap back to Nightbringer or Demonblade.

If you’re a Tryndamere main who hit Gold that split, congrats, you got a genuinely usable skin. The rank chromas add replay value since you can flex your peak. Not sure if it’s just me but I’ve seen maybe five of these total in my games this season, which means you actually stand out running it. For Tryndamere one-tricks specifically, this sits comfortably in the top three skins for the champion. The Victorious armor fantasy works better on him than I would have predicted back when they announced it.
