Star Guardian Orianna

First game I played with Star Guardian Orianna, my jungler pinged my skin three times in champ select. Honestly not gonna lie, the ball redesign alone sold me before I even loaded into lane. Orianna has always been that champ where the skin either makes her feel fresh or you forget you even bought one. This one makes her feel fresh. The Star Guardian line gave Orianna something she needed for a while: personality beyond “creepy robot girl with a ball.”

What the skin actually changes on Orianna

The Ball. Thats the whole pitch for any Orianna skin and Riot knew it. Star Guardian Orianna turns it into this floating crystal guardian companion with wings that pulse during ability casts. The Q send-out has these trailing star particles that read clean against the Rift, and the W zone lights up in pink and gold instead of the usual muted tones. E shield gets a proper magical girl barrier effect. Big improvement.

The R is where it clicks hardest. Shockwave pulls enemies in with a burst of starlight VFX that actually helps you track the zone better than base. Been running this in Diamond for maybe 40 games and I swear the visual clarity on ult makes it easier to time engages in teamfights. Could be wrong here but the hitbox just reads more honestly with these particles.

Recall animation is cute. Orianna does this little dance with her guardian companion, very on-brand for Star Guardian. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is standard for a 1350 RP Epic tier skin. Not a dealbreaker but I think new voice processing would have pushed this into must-buy territory for Orianna mains.

Model itself is clean. White and pink outfit with gold accents, the classic Star Guardian color palette but adapted to Orianna’s silhouette without looking forced. Her movements feel slightly more graceful in this skin, though that might just be the particle trails tricking my brain. (Random aside: my duo partner thought this was a Legendary the first time he saw it in loading screen.)

Star Guardian Season 4 and release context

Star Guardian Orianna dropped June 28, 2023. Part of the Star Guardian Season 4 wave, which was one of the bigger skinline events that year. Félix Donadio and West Studio handled the splash, and they captured this elegant magical girl vibe without making Orianna look generic. The splash has her floating mid-cast with the ball companion front and center.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to because the dark palette against the star particles creates this contrast that just pops in game. Amethyst hits a deeper purple mage fantasy that works surprisingly well on Orianna. Rainbow is the flashy pick if you want to stand out, reads almost like a Prestige-lite version. Rest are fine but those three carry the chroma set.

The Star Guardian line has been Riot’s most consistent skinline for years at this point. Orianna fits naturally into it, maybe better than some of the season 3 picks honestly. The “mechanical being discovering emotion through magical girl power” angle writes itself and the skin leans into that without being too on the nose. Season 12 or 13 I think, dont remember exactly which patch cycle but it was mid-summer.

Is Star Guardian Orianna worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you play Orianna even semi-regularly, this is probably the best Epic skin she has. Pool Party is fun but gimmicky, Dark Star is solid but visually noisy in teamfights. Star Guardian Orianna hits the sweet spot where everything is upgraded enough to feel premium without cluttering your screen when you need to track the ball during a late-game comp fight around baron.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, clean recall, strong model. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault nonsense. Played maybe 15 games last Tuesday alone spamming Orianna mid in ranked and the skin never got old. For one-tricks this is an easy lock-in. For people who pull Orianna out occasionally in certain comps, maybe wait for Your Shop or a sale. But if you main her, if you’re the person who has 300k mastery and picks Orianna into everything including assassin matchups where you shouldnt, just buy it. Top pick for Orianna mains, simple as that.
