TPA Orianna

First time I saw TPA Orianna in a loading screen I had to look it up. Season 2 Worlds feels like ancient history at this point, and unless you watched Toyz absolutely dismantle mid lane on Orianna back in 2012, this skin might not mean much to you. But for those of us who remember that tournament run, theres something cool about locking this in.

What TPA Orianna actually looks like in game

Real talk though. This is a 750 RP skin from 2013, so temper expectations. Orianna gets the Taipei Assassins jersey treatment: white and red team colors, sporty outfit, and the Ball gets swapped for a basketball-looking orb. No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. Voice lines stay base. No recall animation changes either.

The model swap is the entire package here. Orianna’s default robotic aesthetic gets replaced with this esports fan vibe, headset included. The Ball bouncing around as a sports ball is kinda charming in its own way. Not gonna lie, seeing it roll through a teamfight looks goofy but I appreciate the commitment to the theme.

Playing this in Diamond last season, maybe two people commented on it. One asked if it was rare. The other said “nice throwback.” That about sums up the reception. The skin reads clean enough on the Rift, colors pop against most map backgrounds, and the Ball is easy to track which matters a lot for Orianna mains specifically. Some of her darker skins make the Ball harder to see in river fights, but TPA keeps it bright.

The World Champions 2012 line and release context

TPA Orianna dropped May 23, 2013, part of the World Champions: 2012 set celebrating Taipei Assassins’ championship run. Bo Lu did the splash, captured the whole team celebration energy. Season 3 release for a season 2 championship, Riot moved slower on these back then.

The World Champions 2012 line includes TPA skins for Shen, Ezreal, Mundo, Nunu, and Orianna. Five skins total. Each one represents a player from that roster. Orianna was Toyz’s pick, and if you watched him pilot her in the finals against Azubu Frost you know exactly why she got the nod. (sidebar: that Shockwave in game 2 still lives rent-free in my head)

Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it whenever. Sits in the vault and comes out during special events or Worlds time usually. Maybe just my experience but I feel like these older championship skins rotate in less frequently than they used to. Could be wrong here but I swear I havent seen it available since like late 2023.

Should you pick up TPA Orianna?

750 RP feels fair for what you get. Standard tier pricing for a standard tier skin. Simple model swap, no bells and whistles. If you main Orianna and care about esports history this is a nice collector piece. Been running this occasionally since I rolled it from a chest back around patch 13.4, February 2023 I think.

Skip this unless you have actual nostalgia for TPA or you’re trying to collect every Orianna skin. Dark Star and Winter Wonder both offer way more for the price bump. But as a Legacy piece of League history? Worth owning. The World Champions 2012 set carries weight for long-time players. Orianna has better skins for climbing ranked, sure. This one’s for the sentiment. Top pick for Orianna collectors, not necessarily for Orianna one-tricks looking for the cleanest gameplay experience.
