Winter Wonder Orianna

First time I saw Winter Wonder Orianna load in, I thought someone modded a music box into the Rift. The whole concept just works. Orianna already has that mechanical doll thing going on and wrapping her in a holiday porcelain style leans into it hard. Been running this skin on and off since season 5, and kinda feels like it ages better than most 975 RP options from that era.

The VFX and what actually changes

For a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, Riot gave this one more love than you’d expect. The Ball gets a full reskin into this icy blue snowflake orb. Gorgeous in lane. Q sends out a frosty trail that reads cleanly against most terrain, and W pulses with this soft wintery burst that I think looks better than some Epic skins released years later. Played maybe 40 games with it last December and the VFX never got old.

E shield has snowflake particles wrapping around your target. Subtle but clean. R is the highlight for me. The Shockwave pulls enemies in with this swirling snow effect that honestly pops harder in teamfights than you’d expect from a skin this old. Not gonna lie, I’ve had teammates comment on it in post-game chat.

New recall animation too. Orianna does this little ice skating routine with the Ball. Short, sweet, fits the theme. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is standard for this price point. The model itself turns Orianna into a winter porcelain figure with blue and white tones, gold trim on the joints. Her face has this painted doll quality that some people find creepy. I think thats part of the charm.

Winter Wonder line and release context

Winter Wonder Orianna dropped December 15, 2014. Right in the holiday patch cycle. Jason Chan nailed the splash, capturing that music box ballerina energy with the frozen forest backdrop. The whole Winter Wonder skinline has some solid entries and Orianna fits the fantasy better than most champions in the set.

No chromas on this one. Zero. Which is a shame because I could see a rose gold variant looking incredible on the model. Maybe Riot will revisit it someday but I’m not holding my breath given how old the skin is now.

(Random aside: this splash has been my desktop wallpaper every December since 2019. The blues in it just hit different during winter.)

Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it whenever. Sits in the vault and typically comes back around Snowdown or the winter event window. Could be wrong here but I think it showed up in the legacy shop around November last year. If you’re an Orianna main you need to watch for it.

Should you pick up Winter Wonder Orianna?

Real verdict: this is one of the best value 975 RP skins for Orianna. The VFX refresh carries it hard. In my Diamond games last season I saw maybe two other people using it, which means you’re not running into mirror skin matchups constantly. That matters more than people think.

If you already own Dark Star Orianna or the Victorious skin, this fills a completely different aesthetic niche. Dark Star goes cosmic horror, Winter Wonder goes elegant. For Orianna mains specifically, I’d rank this second or third in her catalog depending on how much you value new voice lines. 975 RP feels fair for what you get, especially with the recall and full VFX package. Skip it if you only play Orianna once a month, but for anyone who locks in the Lady of Clockwork regularly in ranked, worth snagging next time it rotates out of the vault.
