Winter Wonder Lulu

First time I saw Winter Wonder Lulu load in, I thought Riot finally figured out how to make a holiday skin that doesnt look like a cheap Christmas ornament. Played maybe 30 games with it that first December. The snow theme on Lulu just works because her kit is already whimsical and goofy, so leaning into the winter fantasy feels natural instead of forced. Not gonna lie, this one holds up way better than most skins from 2013.

Snow VFX and what Riot actually changed

For an Epic at 1350 RP, Winter Wonder Lulu delivers where it counts. The ability VFX got a full snow treatment. Her Q shoots out a blast of frost and snowflakes instead of the standard bolts, and it reads cleanly in lane. The W polymorph turns enemies into a snowman. Absolute classic. Been running this in Diamond and every time I polymorph someone diving my ADC, the snowman animation gets a reaction in all chat. Small thing but it matters.

Pix gets a winter makeover too. Little guy looks like a snow fairy now, which fits the whole package. Her E shield has this icy particle effect that spreads across the target. Subtle change – huge impact on how the skin feels in teamfights. The R (Wild Growth) keeps the knockup but adds snow burst particles when your frontline engage goes in. Looks clean. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected for this tier from that era.

The recall animation is the highlight honestly. Lulu builds a little snow castle and Pix helps out. It’s one of those recalls that actually makes you want to back instead of just hitting B mindlessly while checking your phone at 2 AM. Kinda feels like Riot put extra love into the Winter Wonder line around this period. Could be wrong here but I think this was one of the first batches where they standardized new recalls for 1350 skins.

The Winter Wonder line and where this skin sits

Released December 19, 2013. Right before the holidays, classic Riot timing. Sperasoft Studio handled the artwork, and they captured Lulu’s personality in the splash perfectly. The composition has her in this snowy forest with Pix, and its one of those splashes that still looks good as a loading screen despite being over a decade old.

Winter Wonder as a skinline has some solid entries. Orianna, Karma, Neeko all got Winter Wonder treatments. Lulu fits the theme better than most though. Her whole enchanter fantasy translates perfectly to snow and ice. The color palette shifts from purple to blue and white, and Lulu’s outfit looks like a proper winter mage instead of just “champion but cold.”

Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it whenever. Sits in the vault until Riot decides to bring it back, usually around Snowdown or the winter event. (Random aside: I set this splash as my desktop background every December, its become a tradition at this point.) If you see it available, thats your window. Season 4 I think when it first dropped, back when the game felt completely different. Pre-rework Lulu was a mid lane terror and this skin was everywhere in my games.

Should you pick up Winter Wonder Lulu?

Real verdict: this is a strong Epic skin that punches above its weight for 1350 RP. The snow VFX on every ability, the snowman polymorph, the recall animation. Package deal. No chromas available, which is fine because the base blue and white color scheme doesn’t need variants. It reads perfectly on the Rift as is.

For Lulu mains specifically, this competes with Dragon Trainer and Star Guardian for the top spot. Dragon Trainer is Legendary so its a different price bracket entirely. Star Guardian has the thematic appeal. But Winter Wonder has this cozy, seasonal charm that the others dont match. Maybe just my experience but I keep coming back to this skin every winter even after picking up newer options.

Fair warning, if you’re a support one-trick who plays Lulu in every comp, you want this in your rotation. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX clarity is good enough for ranked, the polymorph snowman is peak peel comedy, and the winter aesthetic never gets old. Been daily driving this every December since season 5 and I still notice the Q particles. Skip it only if you genuinely hate holiday skins, but then I dont know what to tell you. Top pick for Lulu mains who want something with personality beyond the base kit.
