Been running Wicked Lulu on and off since season 3 and honestly its one of those skins that just sticks around in your collection. Not flashy. Not trying to impress anyone. Just a solid darker take on Lulu that hits different when you’re tired of the cutesy yordle energy. First game I played with this skin was some late night ARAM session, maybe 1 AM, and the purple-green palette immediately felt right for the Rift at that hour.
What Wicked Lulu actually brings
For a 975 RP Standard tier skin, Wicked Lulu does more than you’d expect. The VFX got a refresh which is rare at this price point. Her Q – Glitterlance – throws out this sickly green projectile instead of the usual sparkly nonsense. Feels meaner. The W polymorph keeps that witchy vibe going, and the E shield has a slightly different color tone that reads well in teamfights when you’re trying to peel for your ADC.
Model-wise Lulu gets a full witch outfit. Pointy hat, tattered cape, the whole Halloween package. Pix transforms too, turns into this little bat creature that follows her around. Small detail but it sells the fantasy. Not gonna lie, the Pix redesign alone carries a lot of weight here. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the original Lulu voice works fine with the spooky aesthetic. Kinda feels like Riot designed her base voice to be slightly unhinged anyway.
(random aside: I use this skin exclusively during October ranked games, it’s basically tradition at this point)
The Trick-or-Treat line and where Wicked Lulu fits
Wicked Lulu dropped March 20, 2012. Yeah, March. Not even close to Halloween. Riot released a Halloween-themed skin in spring. Classic early League scheduling. She’s part of the Trick-or-Treat skinline which includes some other holiday skins across the roster. The line doesnt get much love these days but back in season 2 it was one of the few thematic groups Riot had going.
975 RP puts her at the top end of Standard pricing. Shop has it permanently, no vault nonsense, no loot-only gatekeeping. You want it, you buy it. Simple. For context that 975 RP was actually mid-range back in 2012 before the Epic tier inflation happened. Could be wrong here but I think this was one of the first Lulu skins released, maybe the second one after Bittersweet.
Should you pick up Wicked Lulu?
Real verdict: if you play Lulu support in ranked and want something that isn’t aggressively cute, this is your skin. Dragon Trainer exists at a higher price point with more features, Star Guardian is the popular pick, but Wicked Lulu has this understated quality that I keep coming back to after cycling through flashier options. Played maybe 40 games with it last season in Diamond and never got tired of the aesthetic.
The VFX updates make your abilities readable without being distracting. Important when you’re trying to lane and track engage windows pre-6. Worth 975 RP if you main Lulu, especially if you like the darker fantasy angle. Skip it if you only play her as a pocket pick once every 30 games – you wont get enough mileage. But for Lulu one-tricks who want variety in their skin rotation, Wicked Lulu earns a permanent slot. Solid execution for the era it came from.
