First time I saw this skin load in, I thought Riot finally figured out how to make Miss Fortune feel like more than just a pirate with guns. Star Guardian Miss Fortune hit different when it dropped. The whole magical girl commander vibe suits her way more than it has any right to, and I say that as someone who locked in MF maybe 300 times across season 7 and 8. Not gonna lie, the skin caught me off guard.
What Star Guardian Miss Fortune actually brings
So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, and for that price you get new VFX across the board plus a new recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO here. The particles on her Q bounce read cleaner than base, this purple and pink star energy that trails between targets. Looks good in lane when you’re poking through minions.
Her W passive stacks show up with little star trails on her feet. Subtle change but you notice it after a few games. The E, Make It Rain, drops these glowing star fragments instead of the usual bullets. Honestly its one of those abilities where the skin version actually helps you track the zone better than default. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox reads slightly more clearly with the star effects.
The R though. Bullet Time with Star Guardian is where the 1350 RP earns itself. Full screen of pink and purple star beams ripping through the enemy backline. Played this in a teamfight last week where I caught four in dragon pit and the screen just lit up. The ult VFX alone carries the skin for me. Clean spread pattern, good color contrast against the Rift.
Recall animation has her posing with Valor, her familiar. Little fox companion shows up during the recall sequence. Nice touch for the Star Guardian fantasy. Been running this as my main Miss Fortune skin since around late 2017 and the recall still doesnt get old.
The Star Guardian Season 2 lineup and release context
Star Guardian Miss Fortune released September 6, 2017. Second wave of Star Guardian skins. This batch included Ahri, Syndra, Soraka, and Ezreal alongside MF. The skinline positioning here is interesting because Miss Fortune plays the veteran leader role in the Star Guardian lore, not the wide-eyed newcomer. Fits her personality.
Pan Chengwei, Alvin Lee, Alex ‘alexplank’ Flores, Esben Lash Rasmussen, and Jean ‘Curing’ Go all worked on the splash. Team effort and it shows. The splash captures that commanding presence with her guns crossed, familiar at her side, stars in the background. (Random aside: this splash was my desktop wallpaper for like three months straight back in season 8.)
Star Guardian Season 2 is one of Riot’s stronger skinline batches. The whole lineup felt cohesive. MF’s version stands out because she’s got the darker color palette compared to Lux or Soraka. More serious energy. No chromas available for this one, which I think is a missed opportunity honestly. A dark variant would have gone hard.
Worth the 1350 RP?
Real verdict: Star Guardian Miss Fortune sits comfortably in the upper half of her skin catalog. At 1350 RP the VFX package delivers, especially that ult. The recall is solid. Base voice lines are the only real downside but thats standard for Epic tier, you’re not getting new VO at this price point.
If you main Miss Fortune and you like the Star Guardian aesthetic, this is a strong pickup. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault nonsense. I think the skin competes well against Captain Fortune and Arcade for the mid-price slot. Captain Fortune has the lore edge but Star Guardian has better particles by a mile.
For ADC mains who spam Miss Fortune in ranked, this skin reads well in teamfights. The ability colors pop against most map terrain. Been maining MF with this equipped through Diamond lobbies across multiple seasons and I’ve never felt like the VFX cluttered my screen or made it harder to track cooldowns. Three things stood out over hundreds of games: ult clarity, E zone visibility, and the Q bounce trail.
Kinda feels like Riot could have pushed this to Legendary territory with new voice lines and it would have justified the price jump. As it stands, 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Top pick for Miss Fortune mains who want something outside the pirate fantasy. Skip it if you already own Gun Goddess though, that Ultimate skin covers most of what you’d want from a premium MF cosmetic. But for the price bracket? Solid. Worth the RP if you main MF.
