Solar Eclipse Sivir

First time I saw Solar Eclipse Sivir on PBE I stopped mid-queue and just stared at the splash for a solid minute. David Villegas and West Studio went hard on the splash, and it shows. The golden armor, the celestial boomerang blade, Sivir looking like she descended from the sun itself. Locked it in day one. No regrets.

Been maining Sivir with this skin since patch 12.8 dropped, April 28, 2022. Late into season 12. Played maybe 200 games with it across Diamond and I keep coming back to it over every other Sivir option. Not gonna lie, this Legendary transformed how I feel about a champion I already loved playing in bot lane.

What Solar Eclipse Sivir actually brings to the table

So this is a full Legendary tier skin at 1820 RP, which means new voice lines, new VFX, new recall, the whole package. Alexa Kahn on the VO gives Sivir this commanding, almost divine authority that base Sivir just doesnt have. The voice lines reference the Eclipse lore heavily, and there’s genuine personality in the delivery. Not just generic power fantasy stuff.

The Q is where it gets good. Sivir’s boomerang blade turns into this radiant solar disc that leaves golden light trails as it flies out and returns. In teamfights when you’re throwing Q through the backline, the particle trail reads so cleanly against the Rift. You can actually track the return better than on base, which I think gives a slight gameplay clarity advantage. Could be wrong here but I swear my Q accuracy went up after switching.

W ricochet bounces carry solar flares between targets. Gorgeous effect. When you proc W in a big wave clear or a late-game teamfight with four or five bounces going, your screen lights up gold. The E spell shield is a solar barrier that wraps around Sivir with this satisfying golden pulse when it blocks something. Popped it against a Blitz hook last Tuesday around 2 AM in a ranked game and the visual feedback felt so crisp. Chef’s kiss.

R is the big one. On the Hunt activates and Sivir gets this solar corona burst radiating outward from her model. Your whole team gets the movement speed boost and there’s this trailing golden energy behind everyone as they charge forward. Used it for a dragon pit engage where my Kayn flanked from behind and the whole screen was just gold and chaos. Beautiful.

The recall animation has Sivir channeling solar energy through her blade, lifting off the ground in this ascension pose. Clean and thematic. Fits the Eclipse fantasy perfectly.

The Eclipse skinline and where Sivir fits

Eclipse is one of Riot’s better thematic lines. Solar Eclipse Sivir sits alongside Solar Eclipse Leona, Lunar Eclipse Senna, and the rest of that cosmic divine warrior roster. The skinline carries this celestial knight vibe that works naturally on champions with weapon-based kits.

Sivir fits the Eclipse theme harder than most. Her boomerang blade translates perfectly into a solar disc weapon. The armor design pulls from the same visual language as Leona’s Eclipse skins but Sivir’s version leans more into agile warrior rather than tank. Smart design choice.

(Random aside: I use the Solar Eclipse Sivir splash as my Discord profile banner and I’ve gotten compliments on it from people who dont even play League.)

Released April 28, 2022. Season 12 was stacked with good skin releases and this one still stood out. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault rotation to worry about.

Chromas and which ones matter

6 chromas total for Solar Eclipse Sivir. Real talk though, not all of them hit the same. Obsidian is the standout for me. Takes the golden solar theme and inverts it into this dark eclipse vibe that almost makes it feel like a separate skin. Tanzanite goes deep purple and reads like a cosmic mage variant. Pearl shifts everything to white and silver which looks clean in lane but kinda loses the solar identity.

The other three are Ruby, Catseye, and Rose Quartz. Fine options. Ruby does the standard red recolor, Catseye leans yellow which feels redundant on an already golden skin. Might be overthinking it but I think Obsidian alone justifies the chroma bundle if you’re already committed to Solar Eclipse Sivir.

Should you buy it?

Straight talk: Solar Eclipse Sivir is the best Sivir skin. Full stop. 1820 RP is the full Legendary price and it earns it. New VO from Alexa Kahn, completely reworked VFX on every ability, the recall, the Eclipse skinline prestige. Everything lands.

If you main Sivir or even just play her as a pocket ADC pick, this is the one. I’ve tried rotating through Odyssey Sivir and Pizza Delivery Sivir and I keep defaulting back to Solar Eclipse within a week. The Q VFX alone make cs-ing and poking in lane feel better. Kinda feels like Riot put their A-team on this one.

Only knock is the price. 1820 RP is real money and if you’re climbing through ranked on a budget, maybe wait for the 50% Legendary sale. But for Sivir mains? Been spamming this in Diamond for four seasons now. Worth every point. S-tier Sivir cosmetic, no competition.
