SKT T1 Renekton

Not gonna lie, first time I saw SKT T1 Renekton load in during a ranked game I thought someone modded their client. The red and black SKT jacket on a crocodile should not work. It does. Barely, but it does. Been running this skin on and off since it dropped in 2016 and theres something weirdly charming about slamming your W on a Yasuo while dressed like a Korean world champion.

What the skin actually changes on Renekton

So this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, which means you get more than a texture swap but dont expect Legendary treatment. Renekton wears the SKT T1 team uniform with the classic red, white, and black color scheme. The jacket fits surprisingly well on his frame. His blade gets a redesign too, styled with the SKT logo treatment.

The VFX got a light touch. Q slice has subtle red particle trails that match the team colors. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and the abilities read cleanly in teamfights, no visual clutter. His empowered abilities keep the same red tint which honestly helps with gameplay clarity in lane.

Recall animation is where Riot put the personality. Renekton does the signature celebration, and it captures that Worlds hype pretty well. Simple change – huge impact on how the skin feels in game. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected at this price point. Patrick Seitz still delivering the growls underneath that jersey.

(Random aside: I keep this skin in my rotation specifically for when I’m against top lane Faker fanboys playing Azir or Ryze. The disrespect of killing them with their own team’s skin hits different.)

The World Champions 2015 line and release context

SKT T1 Renekton released August 17, 2016, part of the World Champions: 2015 skinline celebrating SKT’s dominance that year. Victor ‘3rdColossus’ Maury handled the artwork, and the splash captures the energy well. MaRin played Renekton during that Worlds run and this skin commemorates those games specifically.

The 2015 Worlds set was one of Riot’s better esports batches. Feels like they really nailed the balance between team branding and champion identity. Renekton fits the aggressive top lane carry style MaRin was known for. Could be wrong here but I think this was peak esports skin design before they started overcomplicating things in later years.

Legacy vault skin now. You cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. Hextech only these days unless Riot opens the vault for a special event. Seen maybe 5 of these across my Diamond games all of season 13 and 14 combined. Rare enough to turn heads in loading screen.

Should you care about SKT T1 Renekton?

Straight talk: if you main Renekton and care about esports history, this skin is worth tracking down. 975 RP is fair for what you get. The VFX additions and recall animation put it above other Standard skins in the roster. Kinda feels like Riot gave this one a bit of extra love because of MaRin’s legacy on the champion.

That said, Renekton has better skins for pure visual spectacle. Blackfrost and Project both outclass this in effects and model quality. But those are different price tiers entirely. For a sub-1000 RP skin sitting in the Legacy pool, SKT T1 Renekton punches above its weight. Last Tuesday I went on a 6 game win streak with this equipped in ranked and I’m not saying the skin carried but I’m not saying it didnt either. Best esports Renekton skin, and honestly one of the better World Champions skins across the entire line. Skip it if you dont care about competitive LoL history, lock it in if you do.
