Been maining Ryze on and off since season 5 and this is one of those skins I keep coming back to when I want to rep competitive LoL history. SKT T1 Ryze dropped August 17, 2016 as part of the World Champions: 2015 line, celebrating Faker and the squad taking Worlds that year. Not gonna lie, there’s something about locking in a Worlds skin that just hits different in ranked. Feels like borrowed confidence.

What SKT T1 Ryze actually brings to the table

For a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, Ryze gets a decent package here. The model swap puts him in the red and black SKT jersey with white accents, and theres the team logo on his scroll which is a nice touch. Clean look. Nothing over the top but it reads well on the Rift.

The new VFX are where this skin earns its price. His Q poke gets the red and gold particle treatment, which honestly stands out more than you’d expect in lane. Could be wrong here but I think the W root visual is slightly easier to track than base Ryze, which matters when you’re trying to proc your combo in a teamfight. E spread looks solid with the red energy particles. Not a massive overhaul but enough that your abilities feel distinct from default.

The recall animation is the highlight for me. Ryze holds up the Summoner’s Cup, and it’s one of those recall flexes that never gets old. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and the recall alone kept me from switching. Voice lines stay base, no new VO from Dave B. Mitchell, which is expected at this price point.

(Random aside: I use this skin specifically when I’m on a win streak because superstition is real in Diamond solo queue.)

The World Champions legacy and release context

Victor ‘3rdColossus’ Maury handled the artwork on the splash. They captured the competitive energy well. Faker’s Ryze was iconic at Worlds 2015, the pick that defined that tournament run for a lot of people watching. The World Champions: 2015 skinline sits alongside the other SKT T1 skins from that roster, and Ryze fits naturally into the set.

Released mid-August 2016, about nine months after the actual Worlds win. Standard Riot timeline for esports skins back then. One Paragon chroma available if you want to mix up the color scheme. The Paragon version shifts to a teal and purple combo that honestly looks cleaner than I expected. Worth grabbing if you find it.

Legacy vault skin, so you cant just walk into the shop and buy it any time. Sits in the vault until Riot decides to rotate it out, or you roll it from Hextech crafting. Season 9 I think or 10 dont remember, but I got mine from a random chest reroll during one of those events. Lucky drop.

Should you pick up SKT T1 Ryze?

Real verdict: 975 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on abilities, a solid recall animation, and the esports legacy factor. Not the flashiest Ryze skin in the catalog. If you want raw visual impact, Dark Crystal or Blood Moon probably edge it out. But if you care about competitive history and you main Ryze, this one belongs in your collection.

The World Champions: 2015 line represents peak SKT dominance. Kinda feels like wearing a vintage jersey in pickup basketball. You either get it or you don’t. For Ryze one-tricks who watch pro play and appreciate what that roster meant to League, SKT T1 Ryze is an easy lock-in. Just gotta wait for the vault to open or get lucky with Hextech crafting. Worth the wait honestly, been daily driving this in my last 15 ranked games around 1 AM and it still feels right.
